It comes up often in our groups... the want to support partners through this transition, how to help them understand what it is we're going through, the resentment that builds when we feel like they don't... šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«šŸ¤Æ

Partners & support people are the closest witnesses to the emotional, physical, and identity shifts happening during matrescence, yet many say they feel unsure of what’s normal, what’s needed, or how to help. And from the birthing parent/moms’ point of view, even when we’re in the thick of it, it’s hard to explain to our people what we’re going through and how they can help. But, when partners learn a little more about what’s going on during the postpartum phase, and what matrescence actually is, support becomes more intentional, communication gets easier, and the whole family benefits. So this one is something to share with the partners…

We share some tips & advice on how best to support mom, as well as some IG accounts & podcasts to follow to help them deepen their understanding of postpartum & matrescence, and/or reflect on their transition to fatherhood. Because it's not a walk in the park for them either. Postnatal depression in dads is a thing too.

We're honoured to share a guest article from a new inspiring, Vancouver-based, community-led movement, .her.circle on our blog this month.

"In BC, nearly 1 in 4 women face challenges during the perinatal period.

Su***de is the leading cause of death in the first year postpartum"

If you've ever had any sort of mental health struggle postpartum, this one is going to hit home.
her.circle was launched by the friends and family of Jenna Dorman, a local mom who died of postpartum su***de. It should never have happened. We know postpartum care is not where it should be, and that waitlists to access mental health supports are WAY TOO LONG. In Her Circle are trying to change that by raising money to fund one year of weekly, drop-in postpartum peer support through

Community support shouldn’t feel out of reach. šŸ’›

In a move that's been a long time coming, we’re opening up 2 free spots in each of our Langley, North Van, & Burnaby* postpartum groups (1-4 & 4-12 months PP), for moms who are low income, Indigenous, or solo parenting.

Because motherhood can feel isolating enough already… and every mom deserves support, connection, validation, and a space where she can exhale a little.

These groups are about honest conversations, community, matrescence, mental health, identity shifts, and finding yourself again alongside motherhood. (Plus coffee. Everyone needs coffee)

Unfortunately, our Vancouver groups aren’t eligible for these sponsored spots, as registration runs through the City of Vancouver - but if you’re hoping to attend a Vancouver location, check out the Leisure Access Program for potential financial support.

If you're eligible and interested in applying, check the link in bio (or DM me) for details šŸ’›

Send this to a mom that needs this!

ā€œMom brainā€ isn’t you losing your mind, yourself... or even early onset dementia.

It’s your brain adapting to one of the biggest transformations a human can go through: matrescence.

Behind the brain fog, forgetfulness, overstimulation, and mental load… there’s actually science. And a valid reason why you left the keys in the fridge šŸ˜‚

Our latest article dives into what’s really going on behind ā€œmom brainā€ - and why moms deserve a little more understanding (and maybe 8 uninterrupted hours of sleep). 🫠

You know what new momsĀ don’tĀ usually ask for?
Support. Community. Time to do something for themselves. A place to feel like a human again.

But those are often the things they need most.

Your next baby shower or Mother's Day gift is now sorted. Instead of another onesie that they grow out of after a couple of months, give them something meaningful that will actually impact their postpartum experience 🦩

You can now gift aĀ MotherFlockĀ membership to a mom in your life - whether she’s newly postpartum, deep in the toddler trenches, navigating matrescence, craving connection, or simply needing a little more support and ā€œme tooā€ energy in her corner.

And yes - you can absolutely add this to your baby registry, or send this very subtle hint to your partner, family, or best friend. We support strategic forwarding around here.Ā šŸ˜‰

These gift cards are perfect for:
Baby showers
New moms
Mother’s Day
Postpartum care packages
ā€œThinking of youā€ gifts
Or the friend who keeps saying ā€œI just need to meet more mom friendsā€

Already aĀ MotherFlockĀ member and want to gift it to a friend? Send me a DM and I'll shoot you a little 20% discount, as a thank you for spreading the love.

This month’s Get Your Pink Back challenge is a quiet one. The kind you don’t need to announce or overhaul your life for… just small check-ins, gentle shifts, and a bit more noticing what’s going on under the surface.

It also happens to be Maternal Mental Health Month, which felt like the right time to pay a little more attention to the parts of ourselves that don’t always get airtime.

No pressure to do it all. Pick a couple, come back to it when you can, or just let it sit in the background as a reminder that you matter in this too. Flock members - find it in your inbox.

We’re in it with you šŸ¤
