UTI in women

Young female patient came in with prolonged UTI symptoms for over one month. Some key symptoms include burning sensation during urination and reddish-coloured urine. Doctor had tried 3 types of antibiotics on her but none worked. After checking her tongue and pulses, I diagnosed her with lower jiao damp-heat 下焦湿热. After one session of acupuncture treatment, the patient felt so much better with only very mild symptoms left.

Traditional Chinese Medicine has its own unique understandings about UTI, which is know as Lin Zheng (strangury syndrome). There are several types of Lin Zheng, such as blood lin (blood in urine), heat lin (burning pain during urination), gao lin (cloudy white color urine), stone lin (passing stones with pain) or qi lin (difficult or interrupted flow), etc.;

If you suffer from UTI either chronic or acute, I may be able to help you or even point you in the right direction for Chinese herbal medicine.

Pregnancy and Traditional Chinese Medicine pulse taking:

A little while ago, after taking the pulses of a female patient I have know for many years, I bluntly asked her if she could be pregnant but she denied it. To be cautious, I gave her a gentle treatment and urged her to have a pregnancy test at home to be sure. To my surprise, her pregnancy test turned out to be negative. A few weeks later, the same patient returned to tell me that she found out her pregnancy shortly after that failed test and now she is 7.5 weeks pregnant!!

Ladies, when you are pregnant, even in the early stage of pregnancy, your pulses can feel very distinguishable, like small beads rolling or gliding underneath the fingers, which is called a slippery pulse. The slippery pulse can mean other things as well, such as phlegm-damp obstruction or food stagnation.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, we can take the pulses of your Lung, Spleen, Right Kidney on the right wrist and Heart, Liver and Left Kidney on the left wrist to feel the energies of your internal organs. Pulse Diagnosis is one of the four major assessments in TCM diagnostic consultations.

If you are curious about what type of pulses you have, you are welcome to come in for a quick 20-min free consultation.

If you find it difficult to move or point your toes after an ankle sprain, I am maybe able to help you. Yesterday, I had a patient with an ankle sprain from a month ago. Although she is able to walk, she is not able to point her toes without pulling sensation and stiffness on the front, outside and back side of lower leg and pain on the outside of the ankle. After carefully examining her sprain, I worked on the muscles on the low leg and ligaments around the ankle. By the end of our session, she is finally able to point her toes without stiffness and pain. Also, the flexibility around her ankle improved!
Contact me for a free 20-min acupuncture or breathwork consultation.
