OCT retinal scans offer valuable insights into retinal and optic nerve health, enabling early detection of potential issues such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and issues related to vitreous retinal interface which our naked eyes cannot see.

Micro compliance strategy for ocular wellness:

Instead of “do everything perfectly,” focus on:
✔️ Doing something small, consistently
✔️ Attaching habits to routines you already have
✔️ Making it so easy you can’t skip it

Because 30 seconds daily > 10 minutes once a week. Share this with someone that wears eye makeup.

Every day, we see the hidden side of beauty routines—buildup along the lash line, clogged oil glands, and increased bacterial load—all from not properly removing eye makeup.

Here’s what that can lead to:
• Recurrent styes
• Irritation + redness
• Dry, gritty eyes
• Inflammation of the eyelids (blepharitis)

The truth? It’s not the makeup—it’s how you remove it.

Healthy eyes start with clean lids.
And consistency beats intensity every single time.

✨ Gentle. Daily. Thorough.

Your future eyes will thank you.

For those who don’t know me—here’s a little about my journey.

I was born and raised in Tanzania, and moved to Canada as a teenager. From a young age, I always knew I wanted to be in healthcare. There was something deeply meaningful about helping people—and my uncle, who was a physician, played a big role in inspiring that path.

After completing my undergraduate degree at McMaster University, I still wasn’t entirely sure which direction in healthcare I wanted to take.

Then everything changed.

That summer, I went back home and volunteered at an eye camp in a remote village in central-western Tanzania. Seeing firsthand how something as simple as access to eye care could transform someone’s life—it shifted something in me. That’s when I knew: optometry was my calling.

I graduated from optometry school in 2007, and over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping countless patients.

But in 2020, during the COVID lockdowns, I had time to reflect.

Around that same time, something unexpected happened—my sister, sister-in-law, and a close friend all began struggling with eyelid issues and dry eye symptoms… almost at the same time.

And I realized something:
This was a much bigger problem than most people think.

Since then, I’ve been on a mission to better understand and help patients dealing with eyelid and ocular surface disease.

And today, I’m sharing something for the first time…

I’m currently working with a local product design company to develop a solution that helps patients safely and effectively manage their eyelid and dry eye problems at home.

This is just the beginning.

Stay tuned—I’m excited to take you along this journey.

Your eyes might feel fine… but your tear film tells the truth.

TBUT (Tear Break-Up Time) measures how long your tears actually stay stable after a blink.

If it breaks too fast → your eyes are dry.

Tiny little oil factories called meibomian glands are key in keeping the ocular surface healthy so be sure to give it some TLC…

Eat for your eyes. 👁️🥦🫐

What you put on your plate today can impact how well you see tomorrow. Foods rich in antioxidants, omega-3s, and vitamins like A, C, and E—such as leafy greens, berries (especially blueberries), carrots, and fatty fish—help protect your eyes and support long-term vision health.

Your vision isn’t just about genetics… your daily habits matter.

Protect your vision. Start with your plate.

IPL in action ✨

This is how we treat dry eye at the source — not just the symptoms.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) gently targets inflammation, improves meibomian gland function, and helps restore a healthier tear film.

Quick. Comfortable. No downtime.Because dry eye relief shouldn’t be temporary — it should be transformative.

Amniotic membrane grafts can be a game changer for damaged corneas.

When the surface of the eye is inflamed, scarred, or not healing properly, vision becomes blurry and every blink can feel uncomfortable. An amniotic membrane graft acts like a biological bandage — reducing inflammation, promoting healing, and regenerating the corneal surface.

The result?
Clearer vision.
Less pain.
Faster recovery.

Advanced healing isn’t just about treating symptoms — it’s about restoring the surface so the eye can function the way it was designed to.

If you’re struggling with persistent irritation, non-healing defects, or severe dry eye, it may be time to explore regenerative options.

Ever heard of this eye-strain relief product from Japan?

I recently came across a Japanese formula designed to help relieve eye fatigue caused by screen use — and honestly, the ingredients check out. After translating and researching each one, they’re backed by science and sound legit. ✔️

So why haven’t we seen it in North America yet?

Often, products from overseas don’t enter the NA market because of regulatory hurdles, ingredient approval processes, and safety standards that differ from country to country. Even if something works — or seems effective — it still needs to pass strict reviews here before it can be sold legally.

And that’s a good thing — it helps protect patients from unsafe or low-quality formulations. But it also means innovative solutions can take much longer to reach us.

I’m genuinely excited about exploring global eye-health products like this — especially those that could help with digital eye strain in our screen-heavy world. If this specific product ever makes its way here (or something similar with approved ingredients), I’ll be sharing the details.

Curious: Would you try a Japan-developed eye fatigue supplement or eye drop if it was safe and available here? Comment below!
