About Angela

Angela is a sober yogi, naturopathic therapist, musician, photographer, humanitarian and mala maker. Her personal journey with yoga began after a severe back injury in the mid 90’s, that left her with limited mobility and chronic pain. She began her search to find something that gave her some type of relief. After trying out yoga for the first time and not finding that it served her, she gave up and moved on. She turned to drugs, alcohol and other self-destructive behaviours to distract from both her physical and emotional pain. Even with the self-medicating and distraction, yoga kept calling her back to the mat. For 5 years she tried different teachers, studios and classes. For those first years it remained a purely physical practice, resisting the deeper side of herself and her yoga, not wanting to turn inward. In 2005 she finally had that “eureka” moment and began turning to the spiritual side of yoga, deepening her understanding. This experience helped her continue the healing process of mind, body and spirit.

She now uses daily practice as part of her pain management treatment, rather than pills and alcohol. She believes that her pain has lead her from self-sabotage to sobriety, from anger to empathy, and from apathy to action.

Angela now acts as an instrument of positive change in the lives of her friends, family and community. She draws upon all of her life experiences (both good and bad) to spread joy, compassion and gratitude. She strives to live in service to those in need, using all of her talents and knowledge to meet that goal. Her intention as a yoga teacher is to spread the knowledge she has been given, in the hopes that it will lead others to a more content and fulfilled life. Her goal is to guide students towards a deeper practice, a deeper understanding of the world and their connection to it, and a deeper sense of contentment and joy.

Angela’s private services focus mainly on the therapeutic treatment of physical, emotional and spiritual discomfort. Through naturopathic therapy, yoga nidra, chanting, asana and breath work, she aims to restore and rejuvenate her students'; mind and body. So that they may leave a session feeling more grounded, centred and calm than when they arrived. Feeling that they now have tools to deal with whatever situation may be at hand, good or bad.
