Chill weekend away in beautiful Tofino ☀️

🏄🏼‍♀️ Letting the body reset with some new movements (attempted surfing but mostly just got tumble dried by the waves)

🏖️ Walking barefoot on the beach is so great to feel grounded

☕️ Low phone signal allowed for a proper disconnect from the busy-ness of life

💙 Great time spent with my little family

Still wondering why so many people are turning to osteopathy? Here’s how it can help your body heal and recover naturally 👇🏼

Osteopathy looks at the big picture. The body cannot be broken down into individual parts, everything is connected! So when we address the nervous system (love talking about the nervous system!) or acknowledge how the various joints and muscles interact throughout the whole body (a knee problem is rarely ever just a knee problem), we’re able to be so much more effective at helping the body recover and heal.

With a combination of hands on techniques and specific exercises, we’re able to not only desensitize the tissues causing pain, but also help the nervous system to become more comfortable with certain movements. All so that we can start moving fearlessly and efficiently (Pain sciences is fascinating! More to come with that!)

Osteopathy is very effective as a preventative measure as well, helping to minimize the need for more drastic measures such as surgery or certain medications. Or if surgery is needed, pre-op treatment and rehab can drastically improve the outcomes of surgery.

And it’s not only about pain, as osteopathy can help to improve performance and function too, and minimize the risk of injury.

Why don’t you try osteopathy for yourself!

Very excited for Invicta Osteopathy to finally open in Whistler! 🍾

We are a home-based clinic located in Whistler Cay, and Baye is so keen to help you live a wonderfully active lifestyle, whatever that may look like!

Baye is a nerd for biomechanics and functional movement patterns, so along with hands-on treatment, she also provides her patients with the skills and tools to train their bodies to move optimally. She loves teaching patients about pain science, their bodies, and why we are doing what we are doing.

And It’s not always about pain! Baye treats a lot of acute injuries and the pains that seem to come out of the blue, but she also works with patients to optimize physical performance and minimize risk of injuries.

DM if you have any questions, otherwise hope to see you soon!

If I had a magic wand to fix people instantaneously, I would definitely use it, trust me 🪄✨

Unfortunately, that’s not how the body works. It needs input, it needs progressive loading and progressive challenging, it needs strength and it needs flexibility, it needs changing muscle memory, it needs all sorts of things that require your time and effort, and it also needs sleep, less stress, and good nutrition.

We cannot be ‘fixed’ like how you take your car to the mechanic, but we can definitely be helped if you’re motivated to improve how your body works.

DM if you have any questions, otherwise book in so we can help you start working towards your goals.

The overarching principle of osteopathy is to find the underlying cause of the patient’s problem, rather than simply treating the symptoms. We are specialists in anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics, and will aim to optimize function to help maximize your mobility and well-being.

Here are few things that we commonly see:
✨ Acute sports injuries
🌸 Back pain
✨ Neck pain and whiplash
🌸 Headaches and concussions
✨ Joint pain - knee, ankle, shoulder, etc.
🌸 Osteoarthritis
✨ Sciatica and other nerve impingements
🌸 Joint replacement surgeries (pre/post-op)
✨ Tennis or golfer’s elbow
🌸 Plantar fasciitis
✨ Postural problems
🌸 Gait mechanics (the way we walk, run, etc.)
✨ Headaches and concussions.
🌸 Nervous system support for pain or stress relief
✨ And more!

It is also very effective as a preventative therapy, you do not have to be in pain to see an osteopathic practitioner. We can work to ensure the body continues to function optimally, maximize performance, and minimize the risk of injury and/or pain.

New things coming to Invicta Osteopathy!

A good practitioner should never think they know everything, but rather understand that they are students for life 🤓📚

The way Invicta Osteopathy approaches treatment and rehab is definitely evolving as I dive into my own personal journey of recovery.

I have been an avid athlete for my entire life, obsessed with so many different sports and activities. While definitely an amateur athlete, I have still experienced my fair share of injuries including a broken leg, busted shoulder, sprained neck, and the general injuries that come from being tossed around like a rag doll falling off my bike or down a ski mountain 🤕. Although these are all older injuries, I have noticed (as I get older 🤦🏼‍♀️) that these injuries must still be lingering as my body just does not work the way it’s meant to. I am not always in a lot of pain, but my body struggles to run, jump, and move the way it used to. It would be easy to assume this was just part of aging and resign myself to being ‘too old’ for certain sports or activities; however, I am too stubborn to accept that!

As an osteopath and a keen believer in alternative therapies, I have been to see many osteopaths, acupuncturists, and physios that I greatly respect. Nothing has been able to address the grittiness of my injury history and improve how my body moves, so I have deep dived down a wormhole of biomechanics and rehab to better understand how I can fix myself. I have learned such amazing things thanks to , , , , and others. Naturally I have started to apply my new knowledge and skills into my practice to better help my patients, and the results have been awesome!

See next post for more details on our exciting evolution! ✨

This guy! 🤘🏼

As finally arrives in Beijing, I get to look back at the amazing opportunity I had working with them during their 2019-2020 World Cup season.

- what a champ! 2018 Olympic gold medalist 🥇 Can’t wait to see what he does this year!

“Baye was great to work with when she has travelled as a therapist with the Canadian Ski Cross team. Her professionalism and thoroughness was noticeable immediately and her treatment was excellent and she was quick to pick up on the fixes I needed to perform my best on the hill. Look forward to having her back!”

Best of luck Brady!! Can’t wait to watch you kick ass on the hill

Soaking up all the island gems before we leave Victoria this week 🥺

Life has been a whirlwind since we arrived on the island only a few months ago, and sadly Victoria wasn’t the end goal for Team Invicta.

Goose and I are off to Whistler in the short term before we’re back to good old England once again 🙌🏻

If you’re in Whistler over the next couple of months, come find Invicta at .whistler

Otherwise stay turned to this page! I’ll be getting over my camera shy-ness and posting lots of videos to help you stay mobile and pain free 🔥
