Self Care Sunday - Supporting Digestion Gently Edition

A small check-in for today:

Slow down your meals.
Choose something warm and easy to digest.
Take a few deep breaths before you eat.
Step outside for a short walk after.

Nothing complicated. Just a few ways to help your body settle and feel supported as the season shifts. 🌿🤍

Working with a holistic nutritionist is not about being told what to eat or following a strict plan 🍓🫐🥑🍉

It’s a space to slow down and understand what your body is asking for through curiosity, compassion and education.

Together, you look at how you’re feeling day to day. Your energy, digestion, sleep, mood, and the rhythms that shape your life. From there, support is built gently, in a way that feels sustainable and realistic for you and your unique needs.

Nourishment becomes something you return to, not something you have to get right, and food should be a devotion practice of care and pleasure that matches the ebbs and flows of your life.

The goal is not perfection. It is helping you feel more steady, more supported, and more connected to your body in the process.

To book with our wonderful Holistic Nutritionist, Rebecca , you can follow the link in our bio or also find her at our sister clinic .co too!

There is something about spring that mirrors birth.

A threshold. A crossing. The quiet courage it takes to bring something new into the world.

As the light shifts and the season begins to open, we are reminded that birth is not simply a medical event. It is a deeply human experience. One that deserves reverence, clarity, and choice.

Every person moving through pregnancy and postpartum should feel informed and supported in their decisions. The right to ask questions. The right to consent. The right to change your mind. The right to be met with respect rather than dismissal.

At Nurture + Flo, we hold this season of life gently. Whether someone is preparing their body, navigating pregnancy, or settling into the tender postpartum window, our role is to walk alongside. To listen carefully. To support without overriding.

Care should help you feel more connected to your own voice, not further from it. 🤍

We are looking to welcome one or two new practitioners into the Nurture + Flo community.

Our clinic is home to a group of independent practitioners who believe in thoughtful, patient-centred care and in supporting one another along the way. While each practitioner runs their own practice, the clinic thrives on collaboration, shared referrals, and a genuine sense of community.

As our team shifts this spring, we are opening space for a Registered Health Professional to join us. This could look like a Registered Massage Therapist, Naturopath, Physiotherapist, somatic or trauma-informed practitioner, or another modality that complements the care already offered within the clinic.

What you’ll find here:

✨ Beautiful, fully equipped treatment rooms

✨ Set rent model with no commission taken

✨ A supportive referral network within the clinic

✨ JaneApp charting and a strong community presence

If you are passionate about integrative care and building a practice within a collaborative environment, we would love to connect.

On International Women’s Day, we honour the strength, intelligence, and resilience of women everywhere.

We also acknowledge that women’s health, autonomy, and safety are still not guaranteed. Access to respectful care. Informed choice. Freedom over our own bodies. These are not luxuries. They are rights.

At Nurture + Flo, we believe women deserve to be heard. To be believed. To receive evidence based, compassionate care without dismissal or control.

We stand for bodily autonomy. We stand for birth rights. We stand for healthcare that honours the full spectrum of womanhood, including trans women.

This is not about politics. It is about dignity.

Strength rooted in love. Always. 🤍

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, spring is associated with the Liver and the smooth flow of energy throughout the body.

When that energy moves well, we feel flexible, motivated, clear.

When it gets stuck, we may notice irritability, tension in the shoulders and neck, headaches, PMS, digestive changes, or a sense of feeling emotionally blocked.

Liver Qi stagnation is not a personality flaw. It is often a response to stress, pressure, or suppressed emotion.

Spring invites movement. Not dramatic change, but steady flow. Acupuncture, bodywork, somatic therapy, and gentle movement can all help support that shift.

If you have been feeling stuck or tense lately, your body may simply be asking for support. 🤍

Not sure where to begin? Different modalities support the body and nervous system in different ways. If you’ve been feeling unsure about which type of appointment to book, this guide can help you decide.

And often, these approaches work beautifully together. Acupuncture alongside counselling. Massage with somatic therapy. Nutrition support woven into body-based care. Your needs are not one-dimensional, and your care doesn’t have to be either.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. Sometimes starting anywhere is what helps things begin to shift.

If you’re still unsure, we’re always happy to help guide you.

Today we celebrate the Lunar New Year and the beginning of a new cycle in the lunar calendar.

We say goodbye to the Year of the Snake, a year often associated with wisdom, reflection, and quiet transformation. In its place, we welcome the Year of the Horse, a symbol of movement, vitality, freedom, and forward momentum.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this shift mirrors the early stirrings of spring energy. What has been resting beneath the surface begins to move. Intention becomes action. Stillness begins to carry direction.

The Horse invites courage and steady progress, not urgency, but aligned movement. Energy that feels purposeful rather than rushed.

As we step into this new year, may it bring clarity, resilience, and renewed vitality. May the momentum building in your life feel grounded, supported, and true to you. 🤍🐴

Winter invites a quieter kind of care — especially for the heart.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Heart is connected not only to circulation, but also to joy, connection, and emotional warmth. During the colder months, supporting the Heart looks less like stimulation and more like protection: keeping warmth steady, tending to rest, and staying connected in ways that feel nourishing rather than draining.

Care that gently supports circulation, calms the nervous system, and softens emotional tension can be especially meaningful right now. Not to push energy forward, but to keep it flowing steadily beneath the surface as the season slowly begins to shift.

February reminds us that love doesn’t have to be loud.
Sometimes it’s quiet, steady, and deeply embodied. 🤍

In a world that often asks us to hold everything together, there is something profoundly healing about being held.

Massage and bodywork offer more than physical relief — they create a sense of safety, grounding, and connection within the body. Through supportive touch, the nervous system can soften, circulation can improve, and the body is reminded that it doesn’t have to do it all alone.

Especially in winter, when everything slows and feelings can sit a little heavier, bodywork can be a quiet form of care — one that restores warmth, steadiness, and ease.

Receiving touch isn’t indulgent.
It’s a way of tending to yourself with compassion and presence. 🤍
