We're thrilled to introduce our newest Artist in Residence, LAUREN MYCROFT! 🌟
Art has the power to heal, inspire, and connect us to our deepest humanity; and Lauren embodies this philosophy perfectly. A graduate of Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Lauren brings the Pacific Northwest's natural beauty into every canvas she creates.
Working from her home studio on Vancouver Island, Lauren finds her artistic sanctuary in the beautiful intersection of nature and abstraction. When she's not painting, you'll find her exploring the water-saturated colours of coastal trees, fields, rocks, and ocean, immersing herself in the chromatic features and refractions of light that inform her distinctive work.
Lauren's process is rooted in the concept of flux (literally, "flow"). She pours water-thinned acrylic paint onto raw canvas, creating layers of varying transparencies that converge into new and exciting hues. Each piece chronicles a search for equilibrium: the balance of value, composition, and colour that achieves the depth, richness, and harmony her paintings are known for.
Her incredible work now resides in private collections across North America, Asia, and Europe; and now, on the walls at Philosophy! Enjoy her inspiring work at your next visit, and check out the link below to learn more about her approach and how her holistic artistry captures the living, breathing beauty of our surroundings.
