Our practice is expanding and we are seeking a variety of community-minded practitioners to join our team!

We are looking for individuals who are social justice oriented, and interested in working with populations that may not have extended health benefits and/or those who are typically under-served by many holistic health services in Victoria.

Heart & Hands Health Collective is a grassroots, locally-owned and community-focused Community Acupuncture & Holistic Health clinic. THIS SUMMER we will be moving to our new location, 2612 Quadra St. in the heart of Quadra Village. We will be sharing our new location with our sister business, Green Muse Herbs.

AND, we are looking to expand our affordable, accessible holistic offerings!

If this opportunity interests you or a practitioner in your circle who is compassionate and radical, visit our link in bio to read more!

Make sure you’re signed up if you qualify for these treatment subsidies from MSP!

We frequently have clients omit the info on their BC Care Card when they create their account in JaneApp, but little do you know, you may be missing out on benefits you qualify for and your taxes paid for!

If you are a BC resident who registered with MSP, whose annual income is less than $42 000 and your income tax is up to date, you may qualify for Supplementary Benefits!

MSP Supplementary Benefits subsidizes $23 for 10 sessions of Acupuncture, Chiro, Physio, Naturopathic and Registered Massage. And at H&H, we offer direct billing for MSP!

❓️What does that mean at H&H❓️

It means you will have access for up to 10 sessions of:
❣️ Community Acupuncture at a $12-32 sliding scale
❣️ Cupping & Gua Sha at a $22-42 sliding scale

All we need to determine if you are eligible:

❤️ Your full legal name (as it appears on your Care Card or ID)
🧡 Your phone number
💛 Your email address
💚 Your Personal Health Number (PHN)
💙 Your S*x (as it appears on your Care Card or ID)

If you are NEW to H&H, we will set-up a JaneApp account for you to determine eligibility or if you are RETURNING, we will simply update your account to determine eligibility!

🔗 Our Skin as a barrier and how Cupping & Gua Sha can bolster our Immunity 🔗

Our skin is an unsung hero of the body! We know that it protects sensitive inner tissues and organs from the outside world, but in addition to its work as a physical barrier our skin is itself an organ of our immune system.

Western medicine (WM) has more recently recognized what Chinese medicine (CM) has known for many generations - the intimate connection between the skin and the immune system as a whole. In CM, the skin is a common site of invasion by, and protection from, external pathogens.

While the concept of illnesses as due to climatic factors (wind, heat, fire, cold, dryness, or dampness) is unfamiliar to us in the West, they are the cause of the same illnesses and symptoms we recognize from every respiratory virus season: fever, chills, body aches, cough, sore throat, sinus congestion, runny nose, digestive upset. These climatic pathogens find their way to deeper regions of the body by entering through vulnerable areas in the most superficial channels as they circulate on the surface of the skin.

Keeping your head, neck, lower back, and ankles covered is a good first step toward protecting yourself, but what else can you do to keep seasonal sickness at bay? Come and get cupping and gua sha at Heart & Hands! In CM, we see this as stimulating and tonifying the flow of Wei (protective) Qi in the superficial channels.

In addition to building a barrier of protection, cupping and gua sha can also help open the superficial channels and drive out lingering pathogens. When working the skin, these manual therapies warm and open the channels that traverse the surface of our bodies. With our channels open, the tonification of protective Qi pushes pathogens out to the surface, allowing them to be expelled.
