We are thrilled to welcome Derek (DJ) Steel R.TCM.P, R.Ac to our team!
Derek is a graduate of the 5 year Doctor of Chinese Medicine Program at the Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences and is currently licensed as a practitioner of TCM and acupuncture under the CTCMA. His main focus in both study and practise is the Chinese medical classics. This includes an in-depth ongoing analysis of the core theoretical acupuncture text, the HuangDi NeiJing, which has led him to use thorough palpation techniques of the channel system and pulses. These techniques create simple and targeted treatments that adjust well through ongoing changes in each person’s condition. His study of the main herbal text from the same era has lent him an enthusiasm for small, elegant herbal formulae that make simple changes in the body’s physiology from the inside out. On top of this, he brings his over 10 years of experience with TaiJi and QiGong practice that help guide lifestyle and movement changes that help everyone stay healthy on their own terms, without always needing to come in for tune-ups. Using these tools, Derek focuses on internal medicine, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, insomnia, menstrual issues and chronic autoimmune disorders.
He will be accepting new patients from Friday to Monday each week and is happy to answer any questions via email at dereksteelrtcmp@gmail.com or to set up a short consultation to see if his services might be able to help you.
