As we mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada, we take this time to reflect on the enduring legacy of residential schools and the strength and resilience of Indigenous Peoples across Canada. Today and tomorrow we honour survivors, their families, and the communities still healing from these injustices.
Thank you to all the staff that took the time to watch the video about the making of The Witness Blanket, a powerful monument that tells the stories of survivors through objects reclaimed from residential school sites across the country. Your thoughtful reflection cards are a testament to our collective willingness to listen, learn, and stand in solidarity.
We invite all staff, residents and family members to visit our own ode to the Witness Blanket, now displayed in the Village Square on the stage. This collaborative effort is a symbol of our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, awareness, and respect.
Let us continue to engage in meaningful conversations and actions, today and every day.
