The Permission of the Throat is to speak honestly.

This isn't just about your words but about how they inform your actions.

It's about how the movement through you communicates who you are, in all ways, and all aspects of your being.

It is about transforming the words of doubt to ones of permission - permission to be creatively, authentically, honestly you.

What words do you wish to speak but that settle, lingering on your tongue, afraid to be born?

When the words are not spoken, instead buried under layers of light and appropriate, they get muddled, turning in upon themselves, to become distortions.

You feel them in your life as discontentment and confusion.

This is the time to feel them, to speak them, to live them into existence.

This is the time to give yourself Permission to speak the truth that sits within these layers.

This is the time to be clearly expressed, at ease, and fulfilled within your human experience.

My heart is so immensely full!

This past Monday was the first Permission to Be gathering .

I knew this series of gatherings was going to potent but I had no idea exactly how deep they would go.

I was blown away by the vulnerability, the trust, and the honesty that each person brought.

I'm still integrating and processing the profound moments that came through during the gathering.

We journeyed through the Heart Chakra with the wisdom of Hawthorn to reclaim the permission to love and be loved.

This is no easy task - to step out of our own way, to decide to lean into the discomfort, to get curious about the brilliant potential on the other side.

There were tears.
There was laughter.
There was heaviness of heart.
There was expansion of feeling.
There was the release of pain - physical and energetic.

There was being in presence with others to witness each other as we moved through whatever layer was present for each of us in that moment.

It was a gathering of humans being human. Some new each other from before. Some came solo. All were held.

I look forward to what's next as we continue to gather and unlock these permissions within you and the collective.

We love food in our house. I'm not talking about just a little bit, I'm talking about a LOT! Seeking out new recipes and new flavours and ways to up the Yum-quotient is a thing for me (so much so that I'm on a new recipe ban until I get through the one's I have already added to the pile!

Not only do I love to eat but I also love to share in the foodage love. I love to see the look of complete and utter joy on someone's face when they take a bite of something tasty that I've put the love into making. Even better? When I know that the food I am sharing is of the highest vibe I can possibly make it.

This is one such recipe. Sweet. Salty. Highly adjustable. Quick and easy. And an absolute favorite!

(P.S. have a go-to, roll your eyes in the back of your head recipe that you just can't get enough of and would love to share? I am all ears!)

:: Tamari Roasted Kabocha Squash ::

1/4 cup sesame / olive / coconut oil
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 Tbsp low sodium tamari/soy sauce
2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (opt)
1 kabocha squash, about 2 1/2 lbs
1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds (opt)

:: To Do ::

1 - Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200C). Prepare 2 baking sheets with a little bit of oil.

2 - In large bowl, whisk together oil, maple syrup, tamari, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.

3 - Wash squash thoroughly. Using large knife, split squash in half and then into quarters. Remove the seeds. Cut each quarter into 1” slices. Dip a slice of squash into marinade, turn to coat both sides and lay it on lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining slices, and reserve remaining marinade. Sprinkle squash with half the sesame seeds.

4 - Roast squash in preheated oven for 15 mins; remove from over and turn pieces to other side. Sprinkle with remaining sesame seeds and return to oven for another 15 mins.

5 - Remove squash to serving platter and drizzle with remaining marinade over the top, being sure to include all the ginger and chili flakes.

Mix it up with different spice flavors added to the marinade/glaze before coating the squash.
