🧐 Why Book a Myofunctional Therapy Assessment?

Because the way you breathe, chew, swallow, and rest your tongue impacts your entire body — and you might not even realize it.

A myofunctional assessment is the first step to uncovering the root cause behind issues like:

✔️ Mouth breathing
✔️ Snoring or restless sleep
✔️ Tongue thrust or lisp
✔️ Teeth clenching or grinding
✔️ Poor posture
✔️ Orthodontic relapse
✔️ Frequent headaches or neck tension
✔️ Speech and feeding difficulties

During your assessment, we evaluate oral and facial muscle function, airway health, and habit patterns — to determine if myofunctional therapy can help retrain the muscles and restore balance.

Whether you’re a parent concerned about your child’s development or an adult noticing on-going concerns, early intervention leads to better long-term outcomes.

🎯 MYOFUNCTIONAL THERAPY MYTH BUSTER

Myth: "My child will grow out of mouth breathing or tongue thrusting."
Truth:
These habits aren’t just “phases” — they are signs of dysfunction in oral and facial muscle patterns that often build and worsen over time if left untreated.

✔️ Chronic mouth breathing can impact facial development, sleep quality, posture, learning abilities and even emotional regulation.
✔️ Tongue thrusts can affect speech, swallowing, orthodontic outcomes, and jaw stability.

Myofunctional therapy helps correct these patterns early by training the muscles to function the way they’re designed to — supporting better breathing, posture, sleep, and development.

Let’s treat the cause, not just the symptoms.

It’s Been a While—Let Me Reintroduce Myself

Hi, I’m Kelly Hall, a Registered Dental Hygienist with a specialization in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy.

I’m passionate about helping children and adults achieve optimal airway health through a whole-body, natural wellness approach. My work focuses on the development, function, and balance of the oral and facial muscles—because how we breathe, speak, chew, and swallow truly impacts how we feel and function.

Through customized therapy, I teach awareness and coordination of the muscles that support:

Tongue placement

Nasal breathing

Chewing and swallowing

Oral rest posture

My mission is to identify the root cause behind orofacial and breathing-related concerns—not just manage the symptoms.

As an Airway Health Advocate, I work with clients of all ages, helping to restore balance and function through personalized care that supports long-term health and development.

Airway Health: The Hidden Pathway to Wellness

It all begins with airway, breathing, and sleep. When these foundational systems aren’t functioning well, it can affect everything—from your mood and focus to your energy and long-term health.

If you don’t breathe well, your body works harder just to function. A poorly developed or restricted airway can lead to mouth breathing, snoring, or sleep apnea, all of which interfere with the deep, restorative sleep your body needs to heal, grow, and thrive.

Disrupted sleep doesn’t just leave you tired. It can impact focus, memory, posture, and proper growth and development.
Even signs like teeth crowding, clenching, grinding, and muscle tightness can all be linked to your body’s effort to keep the airway open.

So—how important is an open airway?
When the airway is clear and functioning well:

💛 You breathe better,

💛 You sleep better,

💛 And you feel better.

We often see improvements in focus, energy, anxiety, and even skin tone as the body finally gets the rest it needs. Breathing becomes easier—the way it was always meant to be.
(Nose for breathing, mouth for eating—just as nature designed.)

As an Airway-Focused Registered Dental Hygienist and Orofacial Myologist, I’m here to support you in uncovering the root causes behind your symptoms and guiding you back to optimal function.

The tongue plays a crucial role in stabilizing the jaw. The ideal oral rest tongue posture not only helps to stabilize the jaw and relax the intense jaw muscles but also supports a healthy open airway.

Low tongue posture and/or a tongue tie restriction may be a contributing factor to clenching and grinding. OMT exercises have shown to significantly decrease clenching and grinding if the underlying cause is tongue and muscle related.

Kelly Hall, RDH - Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist

Hi, I’m Kelly

I am a dedicated, caring professional that embraces the natural health approach and whole body wellness.

I provide gentle thorough care by meeting individual needs and restoring patients health and wellness. I graduated with Honours in 2006 at the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene in Mississauga.

My journey to becoming a Myofunctional Therapist began when I became passionate about the strong connection between oral health and the connection to the body. As I started my myofunctional therapy training and began helping my patients I starting learning more about my own orofacial myofunctional symptoms. This is when I became increasingly interested in natural health and wellness. I wanted to understand the root cause of not only oral myofunctional problems, but poor health in general.
