Holiday schedules can make routines tricky—but here are a few simple ways to support oral function during the busy season:

🎄 Try to maintain nasal breathing
🎄 Drink water before sugary treats
🎄 Slow down and chew your food
🎄 Check in on your tongue posture
🎄 Follow a sleep hygiene routine

Yes, you can still enjoy a few treats and live in your pajamas over the holidays!
Little habits add up and will help support nervous system regulation!

Tongue posture during the day influences how the airway performs at night. When the tongue rests low, the airway can narrow—leading to snoring and disrupted sleep. OMT helps train proper tongue position to support healthier airflow 24/7.

Your health is dependent upon an open airway, healthy nasal breathing and deep restorative sleep!

Chewing isn’t just about breaking down food for your digestion— it's a “gym workout” for the jaw, tongue, and facial muscles.

✔ Supports digestion
✔ Strengthens oral muscles
✔ Stimulates proper orofacial development

Encourage foods that require real effort like raw apples, carrots, and nuts (when age-appropriate).

At Back To Your Roots OMT, we believe every child and family deserves care with patience, kindness, and understanding. Here’s what some of our amazing parents have to say:

💬 "Thanks for your patience today – a tired kid after late nights on the long weekend, barely eating his lunch… and that’s what you get! Appreciate your patience and kindness!"

💬 "Thank you so much for calling me today. You really go above and beyond to help us stay on track with therapy session, and you do a great job handling my super emotional children."

After an online OMT evaluation, families also shared:
💬 "Your advice greatly changed my quality of life – so THANK YOU!"

✨ We’re here to support every family, every child, each step of their health & wellness journey. Because at Back To Your Roots OMT, it’s not just therapy – it’s care from the heart.

Orofacial Myology focuses on the function, strength, and coordination of the muscles of the face, tongue, lips, and jaw. We often refer to it as “physical therapy for the face, mouth, lips and tongue”

If breathing, speech, chewing, sleep, or dental development are affected—OMT can help provide a solution to restore ideal function and mobility.

Did you know proper tongue posture supports healthy facial and jaw development—especially in children? It also provides the ideal support for the jaw at rest. A tongue resting low in the mouth can contribute to narrow arches, crowded teeth, leading to long-term airway challenges.

✨ Myofunctional therapy helps guide optimal tongue placement for lifelong benefits.

👅 A tongue-tie (ankyloglossia) can affect speech, feeding, and oral development.

OMT helps before and after release to strengthen and retrain the tongue for proper movement and function.

🍎 Chewing and swallowing might seem automatic—but how you do them matters!

Mindful chewing (keeping lips closed, chewing evenly with tongue sealed up while swallowing) supports proper jaw function and digestion.

Slow down and notice how your muscles are working the next time you eat!

Kelly Hall, RDH - Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist

Hi, I’m Kelly

I am a dedicated, caring professional that embraces the natural health approach and whole body wellness.

I provide gentle thorough care by meeting individual needs and restoring patients health and wellness. I graduated with Honours in 2006 at the Canadian Academy of Dental Hygiene in Mississauga.

My journey to becoming a Myofunctional Therapist began when I became passionate about the strong connection between oral health and the connection to the body. As I started my myofunctional therapy training and began helping my patients I starting learning more about my own orofacial myofunctional symptoms. This is when I became increasingly interested in natural health and wellness. I wanted to understand the root cause of not only oral myofunctional problems, but poor health in general.
