Just a little real life clarity from behind the mat…

I’m not here to be perfectly peaceful or perfectly disciplined.

I’m here to be real.

I eat normal food.
I have messy days.
I lose my patience sometimes.

Yoga didn’t make me “perfect”
It just taught me how to come back…. Again and again.

I teach yoga because I practice being human…
Not because I’ve mastered it.

It’s time to be honest…

My personal practice on the mat has fallen to the wayside lately… my focus has been pulled into many different directions..

Renovations. Personal life (that I’m not quite ready to share). New Hobbies. Fitness regime. Friendships. Baby showers. Weddings. Car troubles. Nutrition. Journaling. Studying. Reiki. Family.

None of it is an excuse. It’s just a part of the path. Sometimes we walk away from the physical mat - but I’ve learned that Yoga still happens beyond the mat…

The way I stop and notice my breath… the way i consciously remind myself to drop my shoulders from my ears… noticing tension in my jaw… focusing on my breath in moments that aren’t easy… knowing when to push my body and when to pause…

Even still… I’ve missed the physical practice… and I’m aware of that in my body and mind… and I’m working on scheduling it into my busy life… at least more than once a week for 20 minutes….

And another thing I’ve learned… no one is ever too busy for the things they want to do, it’s just a question of is it a priority in your life…. And Yoga is a priority for me, which is why I’m stepping back onto my mat… for minimum 10 minutes a day.

Feeling the sunlight these last few days… it’s got me feeling like a cat, chasing the sun spots. It’s got me unwinding, unfurling… planting my feet and growing. Letting my body soak in the rays - I’m reminded of summers warm embrace… of the community.

With the warmer weather on the rise, and the snow melting… it’s got me thinking about the community.

I’m looking forward to seeing You again soon…. To unrolling our mats lakeside… to hearing what’s been going on with you… and to just sharing space once again…

I’m asking for your thoughts on classes - are you drawn to Saturdays or Sundays?

I’m thinking Sundays would be lovely… but I’m flexible and would like to know what works for you 😊

🏂 🌟 Do The Thing 🌟 🏂

This is your message to do the thing you’ve always wanted to do, even if it scares you and your heart is racing.

It had been 12 years, almost to the day, that I had tried snowboarding for the first time. That first year I got out a handful of times, and really enjoyed it. But over the years I got busy and had no one to go with. Which even resulted in me selling my gear a year or two ago.

But here’s the wild thing… I really did want to get back out there and learn - even at 33. I came across a lady on Instagram who learned to snowboard in her 40’s … and my brain went “if she can do it at 40, I can do it at 30”.

So, I looked around for gear - because I was serious and I am serious about learning. This is something I enjoyed in my 20’s, but wasn’t very good at it. And I wanted something for myself. Some place I could go and enjoy, something I could do with friends or solo.

With gear in hand, I booked a lesson… because a refresher and learning more is so important.

My heart was racing leading up to the scheduled time… but I soon learned that I did in fact remember quite a bit. - did I fall getting off the chair lift… yup. Did I come home with bruises and a sore body? - definitely yes. Was it worth it? YES!

I had a great time getting out and starting to learn all over again.

This is your sign to do the thing you’ve been wanting to do, even if it scares you. On the other side of fear, is often what you want.

I’m getting out at least once more this season, and I’m so excited to be going with friends this time.

Bend or Break 🌿
Sometimes you bend, sometimes you break - but growth is always in the stretch.

That’s wisdom that goes beyond the mat as well… this is something we can think of as we go about our lives.

Life has a unique way of opening us up, and teaching us what we need to know.

Sometimes we need to break to see just how much we are doing… and to make the necessary changes. Other times we can bend and adjust. The lesson is in the stretch - and what we do in those moments of bending or breaking.

Be willing to adapt and change… and when things don’t work or change… be open to breaking.

Lengthen Sequence:
•Mountain
• forward fold
•halfway lift
•high to low plank
• upward dog or cobra or sphinx

❄️ Busy ❄️
Hey Tribe!
It’s been a bit of a busy season in my personal life since the New Year hit. - which is why things have been fairly quiet.

I’m awaiting the end of renovations to resume online classes… 🤞 hopefully we will be back to it soon.

For the meantime, I have found another space to offer Reiki Sessions out of. Yay! So if you’ve been curious about booking… now is the time to do so.

My plans for the New Year? - I haven’t solidified yet. However, I am booking privates for the summer season - bachelorette’s, family, personal, small group. Whatever you’re seeking, just let us know.

I’m looking forward to returning to our shared spaces soon. Thank you for your patience.
