Caregiving is an act of love, and your well being matters, too. If you are supporting a parent or loved one right now, consider this your gentle reminder to check in with yourself.
Swipe through for self care tips, and save this post for the days you need a reset.
1. Take regular breaks - Even 5 minutes counts. Step outside, stretch, drink water, or simply sit and breathe.
2. Build a support network - You do not have to do this alone. Ask for specific help like a grocery run, a visit, a pickup, or a phone call check in.
3. Practice mindfulness - Try a 60 second reset: inhale 4, exhale 6, repeat 5 times.
4. Exercise regularly - A short walk, gentle stretching, chair exercises, or a few stairs. Small movement helps your body carry the load.
5. Maintain a consistent sleep schedule - Pick a realistic bedtime and wake time, keep it most days, and build a simple wind down routine.
6. Make time for hobbies - Protect one small joy. 10 minutes of music, reading, crafting, gardening, or anything that feels like you.
7. Talk to a therapist - A safe place to unload, process guilt, grief, stress, and learn coping tools. Caregiver support groups can help, too.
8. Stay connected to friends and family - Schedule it like an appointment. A weekly call or coffee can refill your cup.
