If the start of the year has felt overwhelming, you’re not alone. Many of us feel the pressure to hit the ground running, but winter is a time for envisioning, resting, and gathering energy. 🙏🏻

It’s okay to honour the season’s slower rhythm and let spring, with its brighter days and renewed energy, mark the true start of action and growth. This brings the opportunity for reflection and intention setting to take place in winter, while the action and manifestation takes place in spring. ✍️

That’s why we’re thrilled to invite you to our Awaken and Rise Retreat this March - a space designed to help you energize, reconnect, and empower yourself as you move toward the warmer months with intention.

We’re reminiscing over these heartwarming photos from our first wellness retreat this past fall, beautifully captured by .16 . Reflecting on that incredible experience, we couldn’t help but set sights on the next time we could gather. 🙌🏻

Do you find the idea of affirmations cheesy and feel like they have no actual value? Yeah, I have too!

Until a couple weeks ago actually. 💭

I went to a business workshop recently, one of the speakers reminded me of the importance of affirmations. This time it felt like it hit deeper for me when she was talking about how much her negative self talk impacts her. From here my mind went on a tangent, that I wanted to research more on.

Okay, hear me out…👇🏻

I KNOW that negative self talk impacts me: When I experience negative self talk I feel my physiology changing. I’m heavier, more tired, more physical pain etc. Or what about heartbreak and grief? Heartbreak can cause literal pain. In fact rejection, emotional and physical pain are processed in the SAME part of the brain. 🧠🤯 Negative emotion can increase cortisol levels, suppress your immune system and cause depression.

So essentially we KNOW that negative “affirmations,” work, right? So, what happens when you’re in a positive headspace? Or when you speak kindly to yourself?

You may notice in a positive state that your outlook on life seems more doable, it’s easier to problem solve calmly, you may see the humour in things more. Things feel brighter. 🌞 Well just like the former, physiologically there are impacts too! Did you know that positive thinking is linked to lower rates of cardiovascular disease, better immune function, and increased lifespan? 🤯

Our thoughts will naturally journey through highs and lows, as life will hold both. ⚖️ It’s our responsibility to not attach ourselves to negative thoughts. Each thought can be processed as needed, however, with practice we can choose which ones take the drivers seat in our psyche. 🛣️

So with all that being said: This practice of repeating affirmations and sitting with positive thoughts helps us to be in alignment with our healthiest self. ✨💪🏻

➡️ Words have power. So here are some affirmations to uplift and empower you. It may feel cheesy at first, feel out what does resonate. Maybe one as simple as, “I am learning about myself.” ☺️🙏🏻

Are you looking for some beautiful recharging wellness experiences this month?

I have just the event for you! ✨

I’ll be hosting a workshop at a soul nourishing two day festival called Live Well at Pine Ridge Hollow event (May 24th and 25th).

The entire event is such a great vibe, I was in the market last year. They have a market, forest walk, bootcamps, etc. They focus on all pillars of wellness and offering something for each! Emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, and vocational. I’m truly impressed with the team that has put this event together!

The workshop I’m doing will be hosted in one of the dome forest rooms at Pine Ridge. It will be focussed on conscious and subconscious healing tools and I will guide everyone through a journey! The focus is on both mental and spiritual wellness.

It’s the first time I’m ever sharing some of the teaching my mom has taught me to do with shamanic journeying, something I began practicing when I was 19 years old! I’m feeling called to begin sharing these deep experiences with others as well. 🙏🏻

My friend .gonsalves will be assisting me with drumming and holding space for the journey! We hosted a Mynd Wellness workshop years ago so I’m excited to be doing another after so long! ☺️

I can’t wait to share more details soon, I highly recommend looking into Live Well!

Feeling incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Live Well event as a vendor last Sunday! 🙏✨

Being a part of the first ever event was such an amazing experience. The energy, passion, and dedication that went into organizing this event truly shone through. I had the chance to showcase the Mynd Wellness Daily planner and connect with so many incredible, like-minded individuals. The conversations were inspiring and heartwarming, leaving me truly nourished by the end of the day. 💗

It also struck me that this was my first ever solo market (without help or collaboration!)! This year has been an especially taxing one with a lot of trials in my closest circles, so I was so proud of myself for breaking through and showing up. 🙌🏻 To share a tool that I created that is for just that - being present to our highs and lows and loving ourselves through the process. 🥰

Here's to more wonderful experiences like this in the future! 🌱💫

The new year is the perfect time to reflect on how you’ve shown up in the last year. In work, in health, in mental wellness. To your friends, your family. 💭

Finally! We're here. The holistic Mynd Wellness Daily Planner, with ALL the bells and whistles, is PUBLISHED on Amazon. The final edition. Edited with my amazing team, and my favourite people - my best friend Sabrina, my partner Trevor, my mom. We found some mistakes and we went THOROUGH in this last round. I couldn't be more proud.⁣

About the Designer

My name is Olivia MacKinnon and I am the designer of the Mynd Daily Wellness Planner. I have a degree in Environmental Design from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Manitoba. Throughout my degree I learned a lot about how design impacts people - and I came to understand the importance of aesthetic design aiding in supporting the wellbeing of others. During my studies, I faced a lot of challenges and was diagnosed with ADD and anxiety which spurred years of research about mental health. Eventually, I went down a path of exploring how I could use my knowledge of design and psychology to help myself through the design of a planner called the Mynd Daily Wellness Planner - a guide for a well designed life - which I am now sharing with you!
