When emotions feel big, confusing, or overwhelming — the first step is just to name them.

“I feel anxious.” “I feel flat.” “I feel restless and stuck.”

Naming what you’re feeling helps your brain shift out of reaction mode and into clarity. Research shows that labeling emotions reduces emotional intensity and increases control (Lieberman et al., 2007).

Not very nice thoughts?
That’s a common challenge.

Our thoughts are always with us, and often can be our biggest source of support or disruption.

Thankfully, there are opportunities to improve our experience with our thoughts:
-by being aware of our tendencies
-shifting to an alternative thought
-countering our thought with real evidence
-distracting from the thoughts
-letting our thoughts pass by, like leaves on a stream

An important reminder is that we do NOT have to accept each thought. We also can shift our approach and have our thoughts work more for us.
