Diabetic ketoacidosis is a complication of new or existing pediatric diabetes and may be complicated by cerebral injury. Due to this risk, it is treated differently from adult DKA. TREKK is pleased to offer several resources on DKA, in both English and French, freely available on our website. Find our diabetic ketoacidosis resources here: https://trekk.ca/topic/dka/

Our Gastroenteritis Bottom Line Resource has been updated. Some updated points include trying oral rehydration first and reserving IV fluids for severe cases, checking glucose in any child with lethargy or altered mental status, and avoiding unnecessary medications and focusing on supportive care.

We thank Dr. Stephen Freedman from the University of Calgary for lending their expertise and updating this resource. https://trekk.ca/resources/bottom-line-recommendations-gastroenteritis
