We are excited to announce that we now offer psychological/psychoeducational services to children and families in Kenora, Ontario!

Here at Parnell, we work with children and youth experiencing a range of concerns, including challenges related to learning, attention, emotional well-being, and adjustment at school or home. An assessment can be helpful in gaining a clearer understanding of a youth's strengths and needs, identifying underlying factors contributing to current difficulties, and informing practical recommendations to support learning, emotional well-being, and functioning at home and school.

Born and raised in the area of Midland, Sierra attended Georgian College for Medical/Health Office Administration, obtaining Honour Roll. She has always had a passion for working with Doctors and/or Psychologists, giving her the opportunity to continuously learn as no days are ever the same. When she's not working as our clinic assistant, Sierra enjoys spending time with her family - especially her daughter! When she gets the chance though, she also loves cuddling up and indulging in some good movies and TV with her Fiancé!

Emotional support plants are a thing! You may have already noticed an uptick in your mood with the budding plants outside, but bringing a touch of green inside can help improve your mood too - it can also reduce anxiety, and even increase your attention span!

We’re excited to highlight another one of our amazing team members!

Originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Dylan graduated from the Honours Bachelor of Counselling Psychology program at Georgian College. He first joined Parnell Psychology as a placement student and it didn’t take long for us to realize what a great fit he was!

Outside of the office, Dylan keeps busy as an OCAA photographer for Georgian College, capturing some incredible moments on and off the fields and courts. When he’s not behind the camera, you’ll likely find him out on the golf course, spending time with his girlfriend, Ava, or snuggling with his cat, Kenny - a job he takes very seriously as a proud cat dad.

Around the office, he’s known as the youngest “grandparent” on our team, bringing a calm, thoughtful presence (and maybe a few old-soul tendencies!) that we all appreciate. Dylan is also a dedicated cake pop connoisseur!

We’re so lucky to have him as part of the Parnell Psychology team!

A common misconception is that all psychologists offer therapy. While it is true that licensed psychologists are trained in psychotherapy, many opt instead to specialize in other areas, such as research, testing/assessments, forensics, or academics. At Parnell, we specialize in cognitive testing!

Today our team proudly wears pink in support of Pink Shirt Day! 💗

Pink Shirt Day is a powerful reminder that kindness, inclusion, and standing up for others matters.

With approximately 7 in every 10 Canadian youth having reported experiencing bullying (CHSCY, 2019), bullying remains a significant concern affecting children's mental health, academic engagement, and overall well-being.

That’s why today - and every day - we advocate for safe, supportive environments where young people can thrive.

Brain maturation takes longer than you may think! While we develop and hone things like fine/gross motor skills, receptive and expressive language, and sensory processing as children; higher order executive functions such as impulse control, risk assessment, and planning tend to mature into our mid 20's
