Intentional Healing Counselling Psychology

Intentional Healing Counselling Psychology Tanya Ashley - Offers EMDR and Talk Therapy. You really want to feel free to truly live your life and you wonder if therapy is the answer.

Accepting new in-person clients in Edmonton and virtual therapy for residents of Alberta and the Northwest Territories One thing that keeps people from trying therapy is that it is hard to imagine having to show up ready to face what is holding you back. What if therapy IS the answer? Honestly, sometimes uncovering hidden parts of yourself feels uncomfortable at first. I can help you sort it all out! Healing yourself WILL lead to feeling better, feeling more free and healing your relationships while forming new, meaningful connections. I use my empathetic nature to show up with authenticity. I really do care about you & about making the world a better place in general through connection. I apply a person-centred, social justice lens in counselling & understand how trauma is created by our systems. I know first hand how well EMDR works & want to share that with you. I invite you to just start out by giving me a call. Counselling experiences depend fully on whether there is any gut feeling about the connection between counsellor and client and it's important to vet that ahead of time. A 15 minute conversation is enough to get that sense so please reach out. There is no pressure at all to book a session afterwards.

Healing after loss isn’t about getting over it and crossing an imaginary finish line—it’s about learning to carry the experience. The experience will shift and change several times along the way, and so will you. There will be times you feel better, only to experience a new sensation that takes you by surprise. Take your time, feel your feelings, be patient with yourself, and trust yourself in the process. ❤️

Two absolutely fantastic things have recently come to fruition for me lately! First is that I am now officially a Registered Provisional Psychologist and secondly, I have joined a professional group of psychologists and beginning April 1st, will be renting an office in a beautiful 1908 character home in Old Strathcona.

I look back on the effort and work (and sweat and tears!) it has taken me to get here and sometimes can't believe I actually had the tenacity to make it happen. Especially with all of the pitfalls of life that have taken place in the last 5 years. But here I am!

I also wanted to share something so profound about this journey that I have learned along the way. Trust in what is before you...trust in the universe...trust in yourself! There were so many times fear and anxiety about making the right decision made me ponder decisions for much too long, only to fuel more fear and anxiety. Once I started concentrating on what my gut was telling me with more consistency, finalizing my decision and intentionally letting go of the rest, I started to find true heart-led peace.

I feel so good about what is coming. It's an intense, gut felt, heart-led feeling and I know it's grounded in this trust lesson.

I just wanted to share with you all what has been transpiring. I hope to continue sharing via social media (lots of fear to work through here though).

With Love,
Tanya

Embracing Rest: A Love Letter to Yourself

In a world that glorifies hustle culture and praises non-stop productivity, let's take a moment to pause and reflect on the act of self-love: REST.

Brene Brown beautifully reminds us that "rest is not lazy, and it's not a waste of time. Rest is an investment in your creativity, resilience, and sustainable productivity. When we value rest, we give ourselves permission to honor our humanity."

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, it's easy to overlook the importance of slowing down, of simply being. Kristen Neff teaches us that self-compassion involves treating ourselves with the same kindness and care that we would offer to someone we care deeply about. So why not extend that kindness to ourselves?

Rest isn't just about physical rejuvenation; it's about nourishing our minds, hearts, and souls. It's about giving ourselves the space to breathe, to reflect, and to connect with our innermost selves. It's about acknowledging our worthiness, not based on what we do, but simply because we exist.

I invite you to join me in embracing rest as an act of radical self-love. Let's release the guilt associated with taking breaks and instead celebrate the beauty of honouring our bodies, minds, and spirits.

Take a moment today to reflect on your own self-love practices. Are you allowing yourself the guilt free gift of rest? Are you treating yourself with the compassion and care you deserve? Remember, you are worthy of love, especially from yourself.

Everything you need to change the trajectory of your life lays within you but it's helpful to have someone there alongside you as a guide. Changing how you feel in the world will alter your thoughts, having a cascading effect on how you interact with the world and in turn, how the world interacts with you.

Yeah, there are things within us that feel sh*tty and maybe you've been trying to live your life hiding from those things or trying to pretend they don't exist but you know what? They're seeping out, whether you realize it or not.

You deserve a life where, after facing those things head on, you can move on and live in peace thriving beyond survival.
