PANCREATIC CANCER
Pancreatic cancer begins in the tissues of your pancreas — an organ in your abdomen that lies behind the lower part of your stomach. Your pancreas releases enzymes that aid digestion and produces hormones that help manage your blood sugar.

Several types of growths can occur in the pancreas, including cancerous and noncancerous tumors. The most common type of cancer that forms in the pancreas begins in the cells that line the ducts that carry digestive enzymes out of the pancreas (pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma).

Pancreatic cancer is seldom detected at its early stages when it's most curable. This is because it often doesn't cause symptoms until after it has spread to other organs. Pancreatic cancer treatment options are chosen based on the extent of the cancer.

SYMPTOMS
Signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer often don't occur until the disease is advanced. They may include:
1) .Abdominal pain that radiates to your back.
2). Loss of appetite or unintended weight loss.
3). Yellowing of your skin and the whites of your eyes (jaundice).
4). Light-colored stools.
5). Dark-colored urine.
6). Itchy skin.
7). New diagnosis of diabetes or existing diabetes that's becoming more difficult to control.
8). Blood clots.
9). Fatigue.

CAUSES
It's not clear what causes pancreatic cancer. Doctors have identified some factors that may increase the risk of this type of cancer, including smoking and having certain inherited gene mutations.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR PANCREAS
Your pancreas is about 6 inches (15 centimeters) long and looks something like a pear lying on its side. It releases (secretes) hormones, including insulin, to help your body process sugar in the foods you eat. And it produces digestive juices to help your body digest food and absorb nutrients.

HOW PANCREATIC CANCER FORMS
Pancreatic cancer occurs when cells in your pancreas develop changes (mutations) in their DNA. A cell's DNA contains the instructions that tell a cell what to do. These mutations tell the cells to grow uncontrollably and to continue living after normal cells would die. These accumulating cells can form a tumor. When left untreated, the pancreatic cancer cells can spread to nearby organs and blood vessels and to distant parts of the body.

Most pancreatic cancer begins in the cells that line the ducts of the pancreas. This type of cancer is called pancreatic adenocarcinoma or pancreatic exocrine cancer. Less frequently, cancer can form in the hormone-producing cells or the neuroendocrine cells of the pancreas. These types of cancer are called pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, islet cell tumors or pancreatic endocrine cancer.

RISK FACTORS
Factors that may increase your risk of pancreatic cancer include:
1). Smoking.
2). Diabetes.
3). Chronic inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis).
4). Family history of genetic syndromes that can increase cancer risk, including a BRCA2 gene mutation, Lynch syndrome and familial atypical mole-malignant melanoma (FAMMM) syndrome.
5). Family history of pancreatic cancer.
6). Obesity.
7). Older age, as most people are diagnosed after age 65.

A large study demonstrated that the combination of smoking, long-standing diabetes and a poor diet increases the risk of pancreatic cancer beyond the risk of any one of these factors alone.

COMPLICATIONS
1). Jaundice
2). Weight loss
3). Pain
4). Bowel obstruction.

ERYSIPELAS
Erysipelas is a bacterial infection in the upper layer of the skin. It is similar to another skin disorder known as cellulitis, which is an infection in the lower layers of the skin. Both conditions are similar in appearance and are treated in the same way.

Erysipelas is usually caused by the Group A Streptococcus bacterium, the same bacterium that causes strep throat. The infection results in large, raised red patches on the skin. This is sometimes accompanied by other symptoms, including blisters, fevers, and chills. Erysipelas most frequently occurs on the face and legs.

SYMPTOMS OF ERYSIPELAS
Erysipelas symptoms typically include:
1). Fever.
2). Chills.
3). Generally feeling unwell.
4). A red, swollen, and painful area of skin with a raised edge
5). Blisters on the affected area.
6). Swollen glands.

When erysipelas affects the face, the swollen area usually includes the nose and both cheeks.

CAUSES OF ERYSIPELAS
Erysipelas occurs when Group A Streptococcus bacteria pe*****te the outer barrier of your skin. These bacteria normally live on your skin and other surfaces without causing any harm. However, they can enter your skin through a cut or a sore and cause an infection. Conditions that cause breaks in the skin, such as athlete’s foot and eczema, can sometimes lead to erysipelas. Erysipelas may also occur when the bacteria spread to nasal passages following an infection in the nose and throat.
Other causes of erysipelas include:
1). Ulcers in the skin.
2). Surgical incisions.
3). Insect bites.
4). Certain skin conditions, such psoriasis
swollen legs due to health problems, such as heart failure .
5). Diabetes.

Who Is at Risk for Erysipelas?
Young children (especially 2 to 6 years old) and adults are more likely to develop erysipelas. Older adults who have weak immune systems.

Therefore because of the deadly nature of this disease, you are advised at this minute to contact DR FRANK TOUCH today. NECROTIZING FASCIITIS (FLESH- EATING BACTERIA)
Flesh-eating bacteria (necrotizing fasciitis) is a rare infection of the skin and tissues below it. It can be deadly if not treated quickly.
Necrotizing fasciitis spreads quickly and aggressively in an infected person. It causes tissue death at the infection site and beyond.

CAUSES OF FLESH-EATING BACTERIA
Necrotizing fasciitis is commonly known by group A streptococcus (GAS) bacteria. That's the same type of bacteria that causes strep throat. But, several types of bacteria, such as staphylococcus and others, have also been linked to the disease.
Necrotizing fasciitis happens when these types of bacteria infect the superficial fascia, a layer of connective tissue below the skin.

MODE OF TRANSMITTING FLESH-EATING BACTERIA
The bacteria that cause necrotizing fasciitis can enter the body through:
1). Surgical wounds.
2). Puncture wounds or other injury.
3). Burns.
4). Minor cuts.
5). Insect bites.
6). Abrasions.
In some cases, it is unknown how the infection began. Once it takes hold, the infection rapidly destroys muscle, skin, and fat tissue.
Having a weakened immune system and certain diseases may make you more likely to get flesh-eating bacteria (necrotizing fasciitis). Health conditions that may raise your risk include:
1). Alcohol abuse.
2). Cancer.
3). Chickenpox (in childhood).
4). Cirrhosis.
5). Diabetes.
6). Heart disease affecting the heart valves.
7). Chronic kidney disease.
8). Lung disease, including tuberculosis.
9). Peripheral vascular disease.
10). Steroid use.
11). Use of injectable or IV drugs.

SYMPTOMS OF FLESH -EATING BACTERIA.
The early symptoms of an infection with flesh-eating bacteria usually appear within the first 24 hours of infection. Symptoms are similar to other conditions like the flu or a less serious skin infection. The early symptoms are also similar to common post-surgical complaints, such as:
1). Serious pain.
2). Inflammation.
3). Fever
4). Nausea.

Symptoms often include a combination of the following:
1). Increasing pain in the general area of a minor cut, 2). Abrasion, or other skin opening.
3). Pain that is worse than would be expected from the appearance of the cut or abrasion.
4). Redness and warmth around the wound, though symptoms can begin at other areas of the body.
5). Flu-like symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, fever, dizziness, weakness, and general malaise.
6). Intense thirst due to dehydration.

More advanced symptoms happen around the painful infection site within 3 to 4 days of infection. They include:
1). Swelling, possibly along with a purplish rash.
2). Large, violet-colored marks that turn into blisters filled with dark, foul-smelling fluid.
3). Discoloration, peeling, and flakiness as tissue death (gangrene) happens.

Critical symptoms, which often occur within 4 to 5 days of infection, include:
1). A severe drop in blood pressure
2). Toxic shock.
3). Unconsciousness

COMPLICATIONS
Serious complications are common and may include:
1). Sepsis.
2). Shock.
3). Organ failure.
4). Loss of an arm or leg due to amputation.
5). Severe scarring.
6). Death

AMOEBIASIS

When your gut (intestines) becomes infected with the parasite Entamoeba histolytica (often shortened to E. histolytica), the condition is known as amoebiasis. E.histolyca lives in the intestines of infected people. It can be passed out in their stools (faeces). Infection often occurs after someone drinks water contaminated by infected faeces or eats food prepared or washed using contaminated water.

SYMPTOMS
1). Amoebic colitis
The E. histolytica parasite can cause inflammation of the lining of your gut (intestines). This condition is known as amoebic colitis. 'Colitis' is a general term used for inflammation of the lining of the large intestine (the colon). 'Amoebic' refers to the fact that the colitis is caused by the amoeba E. histolytica. The disease is often mild and can just lead to tummy (abdominal) pain and diarrhoea. However, more severe inflammation with ulceration of the intestinal lining can occur in some people and so-called 'amoebic dysentery' can develop. (Dysentery is any infection of the intestines, causing severe diarrhoea with blood and mucus. Symptoms include:
A). Amoebic dysentery.
B). Loss of appetite.
C). Weight loss.
D). High temperature.

2).Amoebic liver abscess
The E. histolytica parasite can invade right through your gut wall, get into your bloodstream, and pass in your bloodstream to your liver. Once in your liver, it can cause an amoebic liver abscess to form. (An abscess is any localised collection of pus in the body that is surrounded and walled off by damaged and inflamed tissues.) An amoebic liver abscess contains pus and liquified, dying liver tissue. Symptoms include:
A). Fever.
B). Abdominal pain.
C). Eye becomes yellow.
D). Enlarged liver.

3.Spread from an amoebic liver abscess
Rarely, an amoebic liver abscess can burst (rupture) and lead to damage to your diaphragm. The diaphragm is the thin muscle that separates your chest cavity from your abdominal cavity. This can allow spread of the abscess into your chest cavity, affecting your lungs and your pleura - the membrane that covers your lungs. Symptoms of such a complication include :
1). Cough,
2). Difficulty breathing and pain in your chest when you breathe in.

Also, very rarely, in someone with an amoebic liver abscess, infection can spread to their brain and central nervous system. This can be very serious and it needs quick treatment. Symptoms include headache, feeling sick (nausea), being sick (vomiting) and confusion.

CAUSES OF AMOEBIASIS
E. histolytica is a single-celled protozoan that usually enters the human body when a person ingests cysts through food or water. It can also enter the body through direct contact with f***l matter.

The cysts are a relatively inactive form of the parasite that can live for several months in the soil or environment where they were deposited in f***s. The microscopic cysts are present in soil, fertilizer, or water that’s been contaminated with infected f***s. Food handlers may transmit the cysts while preparing or handling food. Transmission is also possible during a**l s*x, oral-a**l s*x, and colonic irrigation.

When cysts enter the body, they lodge in the digestive tract. They then release an invasive, active form of the parasite called a trophozite. The parasites reproduce in the digestive tract and migrate to the large intestine. There, they can burrow into the intestinal wall or the colon. This causes bloody diarrhea, colitis, and tissue destruction. The infected person can then spread the disease by releasing new cysts into the environment through infected f***s.

Who is at risk for amebiasis?
People with the greatest risk for amebiasis include:
1). People who have traveled to tropical locations where there’s poor sanitation.
2). Immigrants from tropical countries with poor sanitary conditions.
3). People who live in institutions with poor sanitary conditions, such as prisons.
4). Men who have s*x with other men.
5). People with compromised immune systems and other health conditions.

CELLULITIS
Cellulitis is a common infection of the skin and the soft tissues underneath. It happens when bacteria enter a break in the skin and spread. The result is infection, which may cause swelling, redness, pain or warmth.

CAUSES OF CELLULITIS
Things that cause cellulitis include:
1). Injuries that tear the skin.
2). Infections after surgery.
3). Long-term skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.
4). Foreign objects in the skin.
5). Bone infections underneath the skin. (An example is a long-standing, open wound that is deep enough to expose the bone to bacteria.

SYMPTOMS OF CELLULITIS
Cellulitis can appear on almost any part of the body. It usually shows up on damaged skin such as inflamed wounds, dirty cuts, and areas with poor circulation. It needs to be treated by a doctor. Common symptoms include:
1). Redness.
2). Red streaks.
3). Swelling.
4). Warmth.
5). Pain or tenderness.
6). Leaking of yellow, clear fluid or pus.

RISK FACTORS
1). Trauma to the skin.

2). Diabetes.

3). Circulatory problems, such as not enough blood flow to your arms and legs, poor drainage of your veins or lymphatic system, or varicose veins -- twisted, enlarged veins near the surface of the skin.

4). Liver disease like chronic hepatitis or cirrhosis
Skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, or infectious diseases that cause sores, like chickenpox.

16/10/2020

PINWORM INFECTION
A pinworm infection is one of the most common types of human intestinal worm infections. Pinworms are tiny, narrow worms. They’re white in color and less than a half-inch long. Pinworm infections are also known as enterobiasis or oxyuriasis.
Pinworm infections can spread easily. They’re most common in children between the ages of 5 and 10, people who live in institutions, and those who have regular, close contact with individuals in these groups.

SYMPTOMS OF PINWORM INFECTION
Some individuals with pinworm infections may not experience any symptoms. However, you may suspect that you or your child has a pinworm infection if you notice:
1). Frequent and strong itching of the a**l area.
2). Restless sleep due to a**l itching and discomfort.
3). Pain, rash, or other skin irritation around the a**s.
4). The presence of pinworms in the area of your child’s a**s.
5). The presence of pinworms in stools.

CAUSES OF PINWORM INFECTIONS
Pinworms infections are highly contagious. You become infected with pinworms by unintentionally ingesting or inhaling pinworm eggs.

These eggs are usually deposited onto a surface or object by a person who’s been infected. The cycle of infection begins with the ingestion of these microscopic eggs.

Once the eggs enter your body, they remain in the intestine until they hatch and mature. As adults, the female pinworms move into the colon and exit the body through the a**s at night.

Female pinworms lay eggs in the folds of skin around the a**s and then return to the colon. The presence of these eggs often causes a**l itching and irritation.

When a person scratches the affected area, the pinworm eggs transfer to the fingers. The eggs can survive for several hours on your hands.

If a person who’s been infected touches household objects like bedding, clothing, toilet seats, or toys, the eggs will transfer to these objects. Pinworm eggs can survive on these contaminated surfaces for up to three weeks.

Children transfer pinworm eggs easily because they may put infected toys or other objects directly into their mouths. The eggs can also transfer from contaminated fingers directly to food or liquids.

While uncommon, it’s also possible for adults to inhale airborne eggs when shaking contaminated bedding, towels, or clothing.

Pinworms generally live for up to 13 weeks. Scratching an affected area can lead to unintentional ingestion, which can lead to reinfection and a restart of the entire pinworm life process.

Sometimes, eggs on the a**s can hatch and the pinworm larvae can reinfect the intestine that they came from. This can cause an infection to continue indefinitely if it’s not treated.

WHO'S AT RISK FOR A PINWORM INFECTION
Pinworm infections affect people of all ages and geographical regions. Since the pinworm eggs are microscopic, it’s impossible to avoid individuals or areas that have been infected.
While anyone can get a pinworm infection, the following groups are more susceptible:
1). Children who attend day care, preschool, or elementary school.

2). Family members or caregivers of people who have been infected.

3). Individuals who live in institutions or other crowded accommodations, such as dormitories.

4). Children or adults who don’t practice regular and careful handwashing prior to eating.

5). Children who have a habit of sucking their thumbs.

Therefore because of the deadly nature of this disease, you are advised at this minute to contact DR FRANK TOUCH today. HOOKWORM
Hookworms are parasites. This means they live off other living things. Hookworms affect your lungs, skin, and small intestine. Humans contract hookworms through hookworms found in dirt contaminated by feaces.

SYMPTOMS
People with a hookworm infection may show some of the following symptoms:
1). A skin rash in one area that is typically red, raised, and itchy.
2). Weight loss.
3). loss of appetite.
4). Breathing complications, such as wheezing and a cough.
5). Fever.
6). Stomach pain.
7. Diarrhea.
8). Extreme tiredness and weakness.
9). Iron deficiency anemia or malnutrition.
10). Physical development problems in children due to severe anemia.
11). Heart failure and widespread tissue swelling as a result of severe anemia.

CAUSES OF HOOKWORM
You might not have any symptoms from the infection if you’re otherwise healthy, have a low parasite burden, and eat foods with plenty of iron.

If you do experience symptoms, they generally start with itchiness and a small rash caused by an allergic reaction in the area that the larvae entered your skin. This is generally followed by diarrhea as the hookworms grow in your intestine. Other symptoms include:

1). Abdominal pain.
2). Colic, or cramping and excessive crying in infants.
3). Intestinal cramps.
4). Nausea.
5). Fever.
6). Blood in your stool.
7). Loss of appetite.
8). Itchy rash.

RISK FACTORS
These include:
1). Those who live in warm, tropical, or subtropical areas.
2). People who spend time in areas where there is poor sanitation management and hygiene, especially if walking barefoot or with skin-to-soil contact.
3). Those who are pregnant or of childbearing age.
4). Young children who have contact with contaminated soil or sandboxes.

A**L CANCER
A**l cancer is an uncommon type of cancer that occurs in the a**l ca**l. The a**l ca**l is a short tube at the end of your re**um through which stool leaves your body.

SYMPTOMS OF A**L CANCER
The symptoms of a**l cancer are often similar to more common and less serious conditions affecting the a**s, such as piles (haemorrhoids) and a**l fissures (small tears or sores).
Symptoms of a**l cancer can include:
1). Bleeding from the bottom (re**al bleeding).
2). Itching and pain around the a**s.
3). Small lumps around the a**s.
4). A discharge of mucus from the a**s.
5). Loss of bowel control (bowel incontinence)

CAUSES OF A**L CANCER
A**l cancer forms when a genetic mutation turns normal, healthy cells into abnormal cells. Healthy cells grow and multiply at a set rate, eventually dying at a set time. Abnormal cells grow and multiply out of control, and they don't die. The accumulating abnormal cells form a mass (tumor). Cancer cells invade nearby tissues and can separate from an initial tumor to spread elsewhere in the body (metastasize).

A**l cancer is closely related to a s*xually transmitted infection called human papillomavirus (HPV). Evidence of HPV is detected in the majority of a**l cancers. HPV is thought to be the most common cause of a**l cancers.
There are other factors that can increase your risk of developing the condition. These include:

1). Infection with human papilloma virus (HPV) – a common and usually harmless group of viruses spread through s*xual contact, which can affect the moist membranes lining your body.

2). Having a**l s*x or lots of s*xual partners – possibly because this increases your risk of developing HPV.

3). Having a history of cervical, vaginal or vulval cancer.

4). Smoking.

5) Having a weakened immune system – for example, if you have HIV.

RISK FACTORS
Several factors have been found to increase the risk of a**l cancer, including:
1). Many s*xual partners. People who have many s*xual partners over their lifetimes have a greater risk of a**l cancer.

2). A**l s*x. People who engage in receptive a**l s*x have an increased risk of a**l cancer.

3). Smoking. Smoking ci******es may increase your risk of a**l cancer.

4). History of cancer. Those who have had cervical, vulvar or vaginal cancer have an increased risk of a**l cancer.

5). Human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV infection increases your risk of several cancers, including a**l cancer and cervical cancer. HPV infection is a s*xually transmitted infection that can also cause ge***al warts.

6). Drugs or conditions that suppress your immune system. People who take drugs to suppress their immune systems (immunosuppressive drugs), including people who have received organ transplants, may have an increased risk of a**l cancer. HIV — the virus that causes AIDS — suppresses the immune system and increases the risk of a**l cancer.

COMPLICATIONS
A**l cancer rarely spreads (metastasizes) to distant parts of the body. Only a small percentage of tumors are found to have spread, but those that do are especially difficult to treat. A**l cancer that metastasizes most commonly spreads to the liver and the lungs.

SEPSIS
Sepsis is a potentially life-threatening condition caused by the body's response to an infection. The body normally releases chemicals into the bloodstream to fight an infection. Sepsis occurs when the body's response to these chemicals is out of balance, triggering changes that can damage multiple organ systems.
If sepsis progresses to septic shock, blood pressure drops dramatically. This may lead to death.

Sepsis is caused by infection and can happen to anyone. Sepsis is most common and most dangerous in:
1)- Older adults.
2)- Pregnant women.
3)- Children younger than a year.
4)- People who have chronic conditions, such as diabetes, kidney or lung disease, or cancer.
5)- People who have weakened immune systems.

SYMPTOMS
To be diagnosed with sepsis, you must have a probable or confirmed infection and all of the following signs:
1)- Change in mental status.
2)- A first (upper) number in a blood pressure reading — also called the systolic pressure — that's less than or equal to 100 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg).
3)- Respiratory rate higher than or equal to 22 breaths a minute.

CAUSES
While any type of infection — bacterial, viral or fungal — can lead to sepsis, the most likely varieties include:
1)- Pneumonia.
2)-Infection of the digestive system (which includes organs such as the stomach and colon).
3)-Infection of the kidney, bladder and other parts of the urinary system.
4)-Bloodstream infection (bacteremia).

RISK FACTORS
Sepsis and septic shock are more common if you:
1)-Are very young or very old.
2)-Have a compromised immune system.
3)-Have diabetes or cirrhosis.
4)-Are already very sick, often in a hospital (intensive care unit).
5)-Have wounds or injuries, such as burns.
6)-Have invasive devices, such as intravenous catheters or breathing tubes.
7)-Have previously received antibiotics or corticosteroids.

COMPLICATIONS
Sepsis ranges from less to more severe. As sepsis worsens, blood flow to vital organs, such as your brain, heart and kidneys, becomes impaired. Sepsis can also cause blood clots to form in your organs and in your arms, legs, fingers and toes — leading to varying degrees of organ failure and tissue death (gangrene).

Most people recover from mild sepsis, but the average mortality rate for septic shock is about 40 percent. Also, an episode of severe sepsis may place you at higher risk of future infections.
