Why GlobalGiving?
Some people are asking why GALA is partnering with GlobalGiving. “Why can’t I donate money directly to GALA?”
Below are some important details about why GAKA has partnered with GlobalGiving:
· GALA AGA is aCongolese-based organization, meaning that it cannot obtain a 501(c)(3) nonprofit status with the IRS
· In order to be able to accept tax-deductible donations and send money to GALAAGA’s Congolese bank account, we partnered with GlobalGiving, a US-based organization that helps nonprofits in other countries, like GALA, accomplish these goals
· All donations to GALA must go through GlobalGiving; sending money any other way incurs extremely high international fund transfer fees
· 85% of each donation is sent directly to GALA and is put towards sponsoring needy vulnerable victims’ civic educations
· GlobalGiving charges a 15% transaction fee for all donations made to GALA; this is an extremely reasonable fee given the services that GlobalGiving provides to GALA
· GlobalGiving connects Action GALA to new donors, provides us donor management tools, and gives us the ability to receive tax-deductible contributions in a secure, transparent platform
· If that’s not enough, 96% of that 15% fee goes directly toward programs and services that GlobalGiving delivers to GALA and other similar organizations, meaning that over 99% of your donation goes either directly, or indirectly back to GALA’s work

The Bonus Day is a great opportunity to fund the project. There are still two weeks left until the end of the Challenge and the Bonus Day can help the organization!
What you should know
Bonus Day starts at 9am EST on Wednesday, December 17th! They should give early in the day to make sure they get matched at 15%
You will need to give at least $25 to get the match and can only give online
By donating on Bonus Day, they are helping you get closer to the Challenge goals and are impacting your community on the ground!
Don’t forget about the extra $500 Bonuses tomorrow, one for the most funds raised and one for the most donors!
Check out the Leaderboard to see your matching and how close you are to the Bonuses.
This means that if a donor gives $100 by debit card, credit card, or PayPal to your project, GlobalGiving will give your project an additional $15.
Funds will likely run out quickly so please give early. Once funds run out no more donations will be matched.
