Talking to kids about ICE can be tough, but here are some tips for ages 3-18! Remind them they're not alone and there are things you can do together as a family to help, like deliver meals, making a shopping list, picking out groceries, and coloring pictures. These small actions can make a big difference when we feel helpless. Caring is showing compassion.

Today is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). Today we remember and honor those who have lost their life due to acts of anti-transgender violence. From October1st, 2022 to September 30, 2023, 320 trans and gender diverse people were killed due to anti-trans violence. Within the United States, 31 trans and gender diverse people were killed due to anti-trans violence in the past year.
Fighting this violence starts withcalling attention to anti-trans or transphobic comments and actions.
If you notice someone making an anti-trans or transphobic comment, gently correct them (ex., “Alex’s pronouns are actually they/them”), talk to them about how their comment was anti-trans in a respectful manner (ex, “hey, that comment came off as invalidating and can be harmful, would you be open to talking about that with me?”), and support the person target (ex., show support for them by checking in on how they are feeling or letting them know you are a safe space).

It’s tough living in a world that is so goal oriented. It can feel like enough is never enough, and happiness is unattainable. But there is another way, and therapy can help! Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) helps you to identify your values – the things that are most important to you, and helps you to move towards those values so that you can have the meaningful, fulfilling life you deserve without falling into the pitfalls of negative thoughts and feelings and unattainable goals that can derail you from living such a life.
