Build or Bullsh*t

The series where we try exercises on the internet to see if they help us build muscle or if they are just bullsh*t

Today’s exercise of choice is the TRX deadbug

I really liked these

I found them challenging without being too crazy

However from my experience a lot of people don’t engage their core properly on a regular deadbug

So before you throw this variation in, make sure you’ve mastered the basics !

Postpartum training takes time

And even for me, as someone whose making great progress, I take steps backwards when I need to because nothing is worth setting yourself back when your body is recovering

But I think too many women accept that maybe they’ll just leak forever

They can’t jump anymore

They can’t run

But the reality is you should be able to do all this!

Now you can choose to do this because you don’t like it but don’t make your pelvic floor and core strength the reason you can’t !

I was doing my core and pelvic floor work.

Breath work. Proper engagement. Functional movement.
All the things I know to do and that I coach other women through every day.

Don’t get me wrong, I do believe most of these comments weren’t meant to be unkind.

But pregnancy doesn’t make bodies open for commentary, correction, or comparison.

I wasn’t looking for reassurance.
I also wasn’t inviting judgement.

Pregnant bodies change in different ways, and narrating those changes rarely helps.

This pregnancy has been hard and these comments always brought me down. ,

Also I find it strange to make these remarks when pregnancy is all about growing a tiny human…you are without a doubt going to get bigger

1) I wouldn’t slash calories or eat as little as possible

2) I wouldn’t rely on cardio alone!

3) I wouldn’t cut out or demonise entire food groups

4) I wouldn’t ignore sleep, stress or recovery

5) I wouldn’t chase fast results
