The following day my mom came into my room and woke me up demanding some of my time, I knew it was related to last night and I didn't want to but couldn't show it to my mom cause either way she'll still say what's on her mind

"Chelsea I'm sorry for what your father said last night, I've spoken with him and he has decided never to bring up the issue of marriage to you again, he told me how you started crying midway into the conversation and he felt like he's pushing you too hard so please forgive him." My mom spoke as she held my hand.
"Oh about that, it's nothing don't bother" I replied.
"Okay if you say so, breakfast would be ready soon so freshen up and join us at the table as soon as possible"
"Okay mom I'm coming" I replied as she left my room
Honestly I didn't see this coming but it's all for the best. I quickly freshened up and went to meet my mom in the kitchen to help her get breakfast ready.

Kate's POV
Next week school was resuming and I couldn't wait, there's this my classmate Sally who usually makes fun of me and looks down on everyone because she seemed to be the richest kid in our class but that's going to change. I made sure I bought everything I've heard her say she wished she had but didn't have and more expensive school things. Normally I won't be able to get it in but as a member of the school cult we had a teacher that helped us sneak in things the school authority banned, the proprietor and 90% of the school has no idea what's happening underground which made me wonder how ignorant people can be about their surroundings.

Ejike's POV
Just came back from lectures and I'm tired, I had to pass through the market to get some groceries hoping to cook later but the hunger I felt now demanded I did something now. As I sat down trying to rest for a bit I went online and saw a message from Chelsea about needing a female friend to squat with but I quickly told her to live with me instead, she wasn't online so I don't get an instant reply.

Chelsea's POV
Though school has started I decided to visit my parents since I've not seen them in awhile due to the recent happenings. After dinner that night my dad called me out for talk which got me a bit uneasy but I wanted to know what it was about so I sluggishly followed him
"Chelsea, you didn't tell me you had a boyfriend" he asked out of the blue staring at the gate
"Uhmmm daddy I wanted to tell you before the incident" I replied a bit shaky
"Well now that he's death what are your plans? Do you have any other man in your life?" He asked
"But daddy I'm still to recover from that trauma and -"
"Don't give me that" he cut in, "you know I can barely see you through your final year and can't even pay for your lodging, you may need to squat with a friend for your final year and take a break after that" he continued but stopped when he saw me sobbing, I could sense his frustration but I didn't want to accept the reality.

He patted me on the back and went inside but I stayed outside for awhile to catch my breath because I was still shaky and I didn't want my mom to be bothered though I know she would know because she gists with her husband about everything and though I don't really show it but their love inspired my idea of an ideal relationship.

Ejike's POV
I've moved in to my new apartment and was enjoying my new environment when I discovered I felt a bit unsettled and lonely, I think I miss Chelsea's company, though we didn't talk much but I got to see her for who she is and that made me feel important, only Chucks made me feel this way and now I see why the two were so fond of each other I bet they'll have been the best couple ever but I wish I could take his place in her life.

Ekene's POV
I always wanted to have a cartel to myself so I decided to bring my boys into the fraternity so that while I await the opportunity to get to the position of the Legacy so I'll go for the position of a godfather.

BAIT 45

The weeks go on and things are gradually returning to normalcy for Chelsea as she's learning to deal with the fact that Chucks is gone and her father has accepted her back, Ejike was a bit sad because they didn't really spend much time together but at least they'll still be friends as they grew fond of each other and started praying and studying together.

Mr Badmus and his wife started preparing Kate for school, this was her final year in highschool and so they wanted to make it the best for her and Kate went for only the best of everything she needed for school.

Ekene finally summons courage to know his fate from Mr Richard and is assured he'll not die but he can't be as rich as Mr and Mrs Bamidele until he grooms an heir who would take his place and an offering of his own blood to seal the covenant like how Mr and Mrs Bamidele did. He knew Jennifer won't agree to this neither did he know any lady that could so he decided to eliminate Jennifer after their second child and groom them as an offering and an heir for his own legacy.

Mr Badmus POV
I just got off the phone with Mr Richard and he has really bad news for me, Ekene wanted to take up my position in the fraternity. The position of the legacy was only given to one family a time and a family holds it as long as no other family makes the effort to take it, many families failed and he was the first to succeed meaning it's possible for another to do same but Mr Richard assured me that as long as Ekene hasn't made a move and is still at the planning stage I still have time to enjoy it but I won't let this position leave my family not after all I've done.

Ejike's POV
I've been feeling uncomfortable living in this house as it reminds me of my failure to save the one person that meant allot to me and loved me like his blood so as the rent expired I moved out to a new environment to continue life and at least finish my final year in school from there I'll know what to do but for now let me lay low

Chelsea's POV
I woke up with a duvet covering me and a pillow under my head, turns out I slept off on the carpet as I prayed,
"Care for breakfast?" Ejike offered as he joined me on the carpet, I wanted to turn him down but the rumbling sound of my stomach gave me away so I took it
"Thank you" I muttered as I took a sip of the tea, it felt so refreshing and therapeutic.
"So what would you like for lunch" Ejike's voice brought me out of my daydream
"Don't bother I can handle that" I smiled
"No I insist, you're still like my guest you know" he replied laughing
"Okay I'll eat yam and egg sauce" I replied
"I'll get that ready then" he said as he stood up.

Ejike's POV
While I was in the kitchen assembling the necessary things I'll need to cook I found myself smiling, I didn't want to assume but I think I'm beginning to develop feelings for Chelsea though it dates back to secondary school but I don't want her to feel uncomfortable or think I'm trying to take advantage of her so I decided to eliminate any thoughts of us being together.

Jennifer's POV
Ekene has been acting strange ever since Chucks died, he's becoming cold and scared of the slightest sounds and it's making me uncomfortable especially now that I'm pregnant at first I wasn't happy when I found out but after Chucks death I decided to keep it, I'm just imagining how Chelsea is doing now, her misery would give me much joy because it's because of the same guy that we stopped being friends. I just pray I get the chance to see her anytime soon I'll not spare any chance I get to ridicule her.

Mr Badmus POV
At least I'm happy everything went well luckily we didn't have any setback and that was something to be grateful, everything went better than planned next step was grooming Kate to become the heiress of the Bamidele legacy. My dreams are slowly becoming a reality it's a pity my son was the price I had to pay to purchase this dream, rest on son daddy had to do this for the sake of the legacy.

Chucks was buried 2 days later by his parents in a classic event but Chelsea and Ejike were restricted from attending, they had been earlier interrogated and though innocent weren't allowed in.

Chelsea's POV
I couldn't go back home as my dad didn't want the scandal I was in to get traced to him as he was scared it would affect his business deals as Chucks parents were very influential something I didn't know until after his death so I was still at Chucks place with Ejike waiting for everything to die down. While I was thinking of everything that happened the past days Ejike entered with a tray of cookies and milk
Want some? - he asked
No I'm good - I replied coldly
Come on I'm also hurt but we can't starve to death can we?
I guess you're right let me just drink some milk - I replied
My greatest pain is that Chucks never gave his life to Christ something I was planning to do that evening - he continued
Wait, he wasn't born again? - I asked terrified
No he wasn't - he sighed
I couldn't believe what I was hearing no wonder the nightmares I had about him, all the indicators to evangelize to him but I failed, immediately I broke down in tears asking God for Mercy I thought Ejike would stop me but instead he joined me we cried and prayed till late in the night when I slept off still praying.

Kate's POV
I smiled as I watched Chucks lowered into the earth he was the worst big brother ever and after promising not to leave like Michael but he did, I know my parents killed him but I would personally love to kill Michael pity my position doesn't require me to shed blood. I couldn't wait to get back to school and show my school cult leader another level of power finally I'll rule the school even if it's just for a year.

Ekene's POV
The whole fraternity is confusing how come Chucks is a sacrifice? Am I going to die like he did?? Many questions flood my brain I can't die like he did.

Chelsea's POV
I felt a cold shiver run down my spine I knew something was off but I couldn't tell what it was. Then it hit me that Chucks wasn't around so I tried calling him but he wasn't picking so I wanted to reach a friend who could help me track him down. I told Ejike and he accepted as he wasn't feeling good about the whole arrangement so he drove me there. As we were still going I tried Chuck's number again and he picked
"Hello babe where are you?" I asked almost in tears
"Relax I'm fine the party just finished and we're about leaving" he replied
"Okay come home now in the next 10 minutes please just come"
"I'm coming just go back home"
"Okay we're going back don't be late" I said as I hung up.

Chuck's POV
I just watched Mr Richard impersonate me on the phone, and from the conversation I knew I had less than 10 minutes to be alive, I looked at my parents, Mr Richard, Ekene and the other people one last time as I closed my eyes ready for whatever came next.

Chelsea's POV
It's been close to 30 mins after I spoke with Chucks and he wasn't yet back I picked my phone to call him but before I did his call came in
"Hello Chelsea I assume you know Mr Chucks Bamidele because you're the last person he talked with, can you come to the St Anthony Hospital now?"
"Yes sir how do I locate you?"
"Just ask for doctor Dennis they'll bring you to my office"
"Okay sir I'm on my way" I answered as he hung up.
I told Ejike about it not sure what to think but it seemed he was involved in an accident I quickly dressed up as we drove to the hospital together.
When he entered his office some police officers were there too which got us surprised
"What is happening here doctor?" I asked
"Follow me" was his reply
When we got to the ward I met the most terrifying sight, Chucks was lying on the bed stiff and getting white with black eye balls and a huge scar by his side, I lost consciousness and passed out.

Ejike's POV
I felt numbness as what I dreaded had happened

BAIT 41

As Chucks was done with his dressing he received a call from Mr Richard asking him dress in white as that was the dressing code and told him not to worry about taking his car as a personal ride had been arranged for him. Ejike didn't feel comfortable about the whole arrangement and made a mental note to follow Chucks. Immediately Chucks entered the car and the drove off, Ejike followed in a bike hoping to follow the car till the end and shockingly they were taking the road out of town and Ejike didn't know how long he had before he would be spotted but he kept on.
The driver noticing he was being followed played along till he got to a T-junction where another car blocked the path he took and since Ejike didn't see either he assumed the free path was the one the driver took but after driving for close to 30 mins and didn't find them he returned home disappointed.
Chucks and the driver continued along a bushy path which made Chucks a bit scared till he saw a mansion in what looked like a developing community, they drove in and he went inside to join the party but it looked like everyone was dressed in anything but white which didn't rhyme with the message he got.

In the middle of the party Chucks was called upstage and was asked to sit on a throne like seat then given something to drink after which he passes out and wakes up in a place like a temple and everyone present was in a black hoodie overall, while he was chained to the center of the podium, a lady and man walked over to him and as they reveal themselves he's shocked as he sees his parents accompanied by Mr Richard
"What's happening ?" He asked
"Sorry son but it's for the good of the family" his mom replied
"I don't understand is this an initiation?? I don't want to be part of this, I thought you said I won't sacrifice anyone" Chucks replied looking at Mr Richard
"And you won't because you're the sacrifice, nothing goes for nothing" Mr Richard answered coldly with a sinister grin.

Ejike came in the day after Chelsea came in order for them to plan how to spend Chucks birthday. Chucks felt a bit unsettled and had to tell Ejike about it and though he wasn't sure Ejike decided to let Chucks go with a resolve that he'll tell Chucks about Jesus when he returns from the party.

Chucks POV
After convincing Ejike to let me go I was happy the next person was Chelsea I went to the room and she was lying on the bed so I joined her and as we chatted I told her about the meeting she didn't seem happy about it but decided to let me go if I promised not to eat there and to be home early which I did, one thing led to the other and we had a passionate night together.

Ejike's POV
I was this close on telling Chucks about Jesus but I missed it but I decided that tomorrow evening I'll definitely do it. I didn't discover how hard this was but now I see I needed grace. I tried sleeping but I had lost my peace so I just kept tossing around the bed hoping for morning to come.

Kate's POV
My parents have kept me from the sight of everyone in the room for 3 days without food or water, normally I was supposed to be angry but I wasn't though I was weak. They told me it's part of my elegance training and it would help put me in shape. I've been here for 2 days and tomorrow makes it the 3rd day I can't wait for it at least I'll finally eat something.

Jennifer's POV
I saw Kate earlier today that means only one thing and that means Chucks is around too so I need to plan him a visit because I may not have enough time and if they travel abroad then it's over for me.

The next Chucks wakes up to breakfast and an already prepared breakfast while on the dining Ejike proposed to pray which Chucks didn't object but complied they ate and Chucks went to prepare for his outing.

Ejike's POV
I was so shocked that Chucks didn't object to prayers maybe I misjudged him, maybe I've delayed his salvation but not any longer, Chucks salvation comes to you tonight.
