Press Release
LAUNCHING OF THE CAMEROON YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAMME (CAYEP)

Excel Foundation Cameroon, May 6th, 2018.

Since 2008, Excel Foundation has been championing creative approaches to transforming Cameroon’s youths into the formidable human capital that is vital to the transformation of the nation. Our activities have been in four major areas:
· Personal development and leadership training
· Academic and career coaching
· Professional mentoring
· Entrepreneurship development

In 2018, we are taking our initiative to a whole new level with the Cameroon Youth Entrepreneurship Programme. CAYEP is the entry level into a comprehensive programme that selects young people with creative and innovative business initiatives, puts them through a rigorous entrepreneurship training course, provides them seed capital to launch their businesses, and maintains a lifelong mentoring relationship that is aimed at grooming them to become millionaires.

SELECTION PROCESS
1. This programme is open to Cameroonian youths aged 18-38years, irrespective of education, religion, gender, language, or political orientation. Each business initiative must however clearly fall under at least one of the major themes addressed by the UN Sustainable Development Goals or the Cameroon Growth and Development Strategic Plan.
2. All entries must be made using the published guidelines for developing a business proposal (see banner).
3. All entries shall be subjected to a rigorous screening system by a jury made up of business professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
4. Projects shall be selected through a merit-based system following the evaluation guidelines that Excel Foundation shall provide to jury members.

WHO DOES THE TRAINING?
Excel Foundation shall be partnering with local actors who have already left an indelible mark in the domain of entrepreneurship training. By collaborating with stakeholders who are experts in this domain, we want to ensure that our trainees get the best entrepreneurship education that can be found in Cameroon. The partners we are targeting for the training component of our programme include:
· School for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Studies (SEEDS) Bamenda
· Fotabe University Institute Buea
· Jongo Hub Buea

ABOUT THE MENTORING PROGRAMME
The mentoring programme is basically a community of support that will ensure that all our entrepreneurs stay in touch with each other, with their trainers, and with the entrepreneur coaches that we will retain for the programme. This framework will ensure that the young entrepreneurs get all the support, tools, and supervision they need to build their businesses to the level where they become independent, profitable and sustainable. We will select our entrepreneur coaches from among the hundreds of successful Cameroon-based entrepreneurs that are members or friends of Excel Foundation.

WHERE DOES OUR MONEY COME FROM?
We are building a COMMUNITY OF BENEFACTORS from among Cameroonians around the world who share our vision of change and are ready to support us in transforming society be engineering real solutions. Good intentions and inspiring words do not get people out of poverty, send children to school, provide healthcare for pregnant women, or feed the hungry. We have been talking the talk for ten years and now is the time to walk the walk. While no single person can bring about significant change alone, there is no limit to what we can do if we harness the widow’s mite resources of thousands of people. Our community of benefactors is the magic secret of this programme. If we have just 1000 benefactors donating $100 each to the project per year, we will be running on a capital of $100,000. This amounts to 50millionFCFA which is enough to train, finance, and mentor at least 100 young entrepreneurs each year by applying our carefully designed strategy.

Please help us realize this project by spreading the word as far as you can. Share this message on Facebook, like our page, download this banner and share it on WhatsApp.
