This is a forum for sons and daughters, friends and love ones of the people of Binshua village in Donga Mantung Division A BRIEF HISTORY OF BINSHUA VILLAGE
Binshua Village popularly known as Baraki is one of the villages located on the Nkambe plateau in Donga Mantung Division of the North West Region of Cameroon. It is located on longitude 10.66667 and latitude 6.63334 north of the equator. The Nkambe plateau is occupied by a group of people who claim diverse origins. These include the Warr Clan, the Tang Clan, and the Yaah Clan, which all make up the Wimbum tribe. It is noteworthy to mention here that among the three Wimbum Clans, the Warr does not directly claim Tikar origin; rather they claim to have originated from MBIRBOH, a pool between Lower and Upper Mbot. Thus, they claim to be the origins (Sons of the Soil) of the Nkambe plateau. The Warr Clan is made up of thirteen (13) Villages, namely; Mbot Village (whose Fon is the clan head), Binshua Village, Nkambe town, Wat Village, Njap Village, Saah Village, Chup Village, Kungi Village, Sop Village, Mbaa Village, Ngwangri Village, Njirong Village, and, Ntawmbaw Village. Binshua is one of the biggest Villages of the Warr Clan with an estimated population of circa 10, 000 inhabitants as per 2015. It is bordered to the south by Binka and Tabenken villages, to the west by Njap village, to the north by Nkambe town and Njema, and to the east Binjeng and Bih villages. It has three primary schools, (GS Binshua, CS Binshua, and CBC Binshua), and two secondary schools (GSS Binshua and St. Marcelin Comprehensive College). It has tap water supply and electricity. It has a health Centre called St. Patrick Health Centre, named after Mr. Samba Patrick Mbunwe who initiated the project of a community health centre in Binshua. The Catholic Church took over the health centre after his death. The Catholic Church intends to construct a full-fledged hospital in the village. Feasibility studies have been carried out and land allocated at Mbenkfu for the construction of the hospital. Information from the Bishop House in Kumbo states that Binshua will soon be transformed into a Quasi Parish of the Catholic Church. It is located along the Bamenda-Nkambe trunk “A” (Ring) road. It is twelve kilometres away from Nkambe town-the administrative headquarters of Donga Mantung Division. The inhabitants live mainly on subsistence agriculture. They grow maize, a variety of beans, cocoyam, plantains, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, vegetables, Arabica coffee, colanuts, etc. The men rear cattle thanks to the vast grassland which offers limitless opportunities for livestock farming. In addition to rearing goats, and fowls which play a unique role in the cultural life of the people, they also keep pigs and cows. The village is covered with a sea of eucalyptus trees. The inhabitants are a dynamic and highly cultured people. For convenient sake and easy administration, Binshua Village is divided into four main quarters, namely; Boamoh which is the seat of the village, hosting the Fon (Chief), Kumanji, Mulah and Ntungap.

MAKESHIFT BRIDGE TRAGEDY IN BAMENDA: FOUR DEAD & FIVE INJURED

Four people lost their lives after a temporary bridge built by BUNS Construction Company at mile 2 Nkwen collapsed on Thursday, March 26, 2026, following heavy rainfall. The bridge was constructed to facilitate pedestrian crossing after the old one was demolished for reconstruction. Witnesses say many people were swept away by fast-moving water, with five injured and receiving treatment at Mbingo Baptist Hospital Annex Nkwen. Others were rescued by locals using ropes and makeshift materials. The bodies were discovered the following day at the Down Foncha Street end of the stream. The swampy nature of the area is making rescue efforts very difficult. There is fear that many more dead bodies may be discovered in the days ahead.

The big question: who's to blame - BUNS Construction Company or the crowd that overwhelmed the bridge?
