On today's radio sensitization over Ocean City Radio,Kumba, FM 88.5, Mr. Tamanji Micah, PCRS physiotherapist, educated the inhabitants of Meme Division and its environs about Clubfoot Care. While advocating for early identification, referral and treatment of said condition is key in eradicating clubfoot deformity in the community.

Emphasis was equally made on the 4 treatment Centers within the South West Region; that is, the Presbyterian General Hospital (Manyemen Annex) Kumba where you have PCRS, Baptist Hospital Kumba, ARCH Mile 14, Dibanda, Buea and Baptist Hospital, Mutengene. With all ready at anytime to

PCRS Pioneer Female Orthopedic technician excels!

Messi Maxime a vibrant young orthopedic technician, lives her dream of being serviceable to others through her job.

PCRS is pleased today, to let the world know young women excel in this profession that helps clients by; participating in patient education, providing instructions on the use and care of orthopedic devices such as calipers, prosthesis, orthopedic shoes, crutches amongst others.

She freely executes her responsibility as an orthopedic technician amongst three male colleagues in fabricating and designing devices to aid persons with disability to live comfortably, repair, maintain and adjust medical aids. These includes splints (orthoses), sandals and artificial limb (prosthesis), maintaining accurate patient records and documentations related to orthopedic treatments and device fitting. Having her in this department has greatly motivated, many who no longer think this job is only met for men.

Rehabilitation and disability are closely linked, as rehabilitation aims to help individuals with disabilities to achieve their full potential and live independently.

These are some rehabilitation goals;

1. Independence: To help individuals with disabilities to live independently and perform daily activities with little or no assistance.

2. Social Integration: To help individuals with disabilities to participate in social activities and maintain good relationships.

3. Health and Wellness: To help individuals with disabilities to manage their health conditions while preventing further complications.
4. Quality of Life: To help individuals with disabilities to improve their overall quality of life, including their physical, emotional, and social well-being.

At the Presbyterian Community Rehabilitation Services - PCRS Kumba, the center comprises of; a physiotherapy unit, an orthopedic workshop and a community rehabilitation services, we adopt an individualized approach that meets the unique needs and goals of each individual. Be it inpatients, outpatients or community rehabilitation. We are at your service!
