People often say, “Carry your business on your head! Show us what you do!”

But how do you showcase a service like caregiving, something rooted in trust, privacy, and compassion?

At Meek Home Care, our work happens behind the scenes: holding a hand, giving medication, changing a wound dressing, or simply being there when no one else is.

We don’t always have the flashy photos, but what we do changes lives every single day.

Prevention is Better than Curse: Act Early Against Dementia 💡

Dementia is not just about aging;it’s a progressive brain disorder that affects memory, thinking, and behavior. By the time it takes full hold, it becomes a painful "curse" not only to the person but to their loved ones too.

But what if we acted earlier?

✅ Eat Right: Diets rich in fruits, vegetables, omega-3, and whole grains support brain health.
✅ Stay Mentally Active: Reading, puzzles, and learning new skills stimulate the brain.
✅ Stay Social: Isolation increases dementia risk. Talk, connect, engage.
✅ Get Moving: Regular exercise boosts blood flow to the brain.
✅ Control Blood Pressure & Diabetes: Chronic diseases contribute to cognitive decline.

Dementia has no cure but prevention gives us hope. Let’s not wait for symptoms to show before we act. Educate yourself, your parents, your community. Every healthy choice you make today can protect your brain tomorrow.

🩺 At Meek Home Care, we believe in empowering families with knowledge to care smartly, love deeply, and prevent bravely.

After childbirth, some bleeding is expected—but not every type of bleeding should be ignored.

Here are important causes of postpartum bleeding every mother should know:

✨ 1. Normal Lochia
This is the natural discharge after childbirth—made up of blood, mucus, and uterine tissue. It starts bright red, then gradually fades over 4–6 weeks.

✨ 2. Secondary Postpartum Hemorrhage
Heavy bleeding occurring 24 hours to 6 weeks after delivery could signal retained placenta or infection. This needs urgent medical attention.

✨ 3. Infection-Related Bleeding
Bleeding with fever, foul-smelling discharge, or pelvic pain could point to an infection in the uterus (endometritis).

✨ 4. Delayed Uterine Involution
If the uterus doesn’t shrink back properly, mothers may notice prolonged or heavy bleeding. Midwife checkups help catch this early.

✨ 5. Hormonal Fluctuations
Breastfeeding, stress, or thyroid changes can affect hormone levels and cause irregular spotting even weeks after delivery.

✨ 6. Birth Control Side Effects
Starting family planning methods like IUDs or pills postpartum may trigger light spotting or changes in bleeding patterns.

✨ 7. Cervical or Vaginal Tears
Sometimes, minor injuries during childbirth can cause light bleeding that appears later—especially after resuming s*xual activity.

✨ 8. Menstruation Returning
Some women start ovulating and menstruating again even while breastfeeding. It may be mistaken for abnormal bleeding.

🔔 Final Word:
Your body goes through a lot after childbirth. If bleeding is too heavy, lasts longer than 6 weeks, or comes with unusual symptoms, don’t wait seek professional care.

💙 Meek Home Care is here to walk with you because healing doesn’t end after delivery.

There’s a quiet but dangerous problem growing in our hospitals and clinics patients are being mistreated, disrespected, and even harmed, not because there’s no care, but because they don’t know their rights… and some health providers don’t respect them.

As the saying goes:
👉🏽 “What you don’t know, you abuse or misuse.”
This is exactly what’s happening with patient rights in Cameroon.

⚖️ What Are Patient Rights?

Every patient no matter their age, gender, background, or income has the right to:

1-Be treated with respect and dignity

2-Get clear and truthful information about their health

3-Consent to or refuse treatment

4- Have their privacy and medical records kept confidential

5-Ask questions and receive answers

6- Be free from discrimination, abuse, or neglect

7-Access emergency care regardless of money

❌ What’s Going Wrong?

Many patients in Cameroon are:
@-Shouted at or insulted in hospitals

@-Denied care orIgnored because they “ask too many questions" concerning their health.

@-Not told what drugs they are being given or why,in most cases.

@-Forced into procedures without proper explanation

@-Abandoned or mistreated during childbirth e.g beating, suturing of perineal tear without anaesthesia.

@-Ignored because they are poor, uneducated, or from rural areas.
Most of these victims suffer in silence… because they don’t know they have a right to better.

🗣️ It’s Time to Speak Up

A hospital is not doing you a favor care is a right.
Asking questions doesn’t make you a “difficult patient.”

Respectful care should be the standard, not a privilege.

Every health worker has a duty to uphold these rights

♥️ Knowledge saves lives. Silence protects abuse♥️

Let’s end this silent crisis. Learn your rights. Speak out. Demand better.

Can Infections Really Cause Miscarriage? Yes and Here’s What Every Woman Should Know

Many women don’t realize that something as common as a simple infection can cause them to lose a pregnancy. It’s painful, it’s scary — but it can often be prevented with the right care and awareness.
Some of these infections are:

1. Toxoplasmosis

Caught from: Undercooked meat, dirty water, etc
👉🏾 Risk: Can damage your baby’s brain or even lead to miscarriage.
💡 Protect yourself: Wash food well, cook meat properly.

💉 2. Syphilis

Caught from: Unprotected s*x.
👉🏾 Risk: Passes through the placenta, leading to miscarriage or stillbirth.
💡 Protect yourself: Get tested early in pregnancy it's treatable with simple antibiotics.

3-Malaria

Caught from: Mosquito bites.
👉🏾 Risk: Especially dangerous in early pregnancy can cause miscarriage or low birth weight.
💡 Protect yourself: Sleep under treated mosquito nets and take prevention meds such as Fansidar

4. Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)

Caught from: Bacteria entering the urinary system very common in pregnancy.
👉🏾 Risk: If ignored, it can cause miscarriage or early labor.
💡 Protect yourself: Drink plenty of water and report pain or burning when urinating.

5. Bacterial Vaginosis

Caught from: Imbalance of bacteria in the va**na (not from s*x).
👉🏾 Risk: Increases your risk of miscarriage or preterm birth.
💡 Protect yourself: Keep good hygiene, avoid douching, and seek care if you notice any foul smell or unusual discharge.

❤️ What You Need to Remember

Miscarriage isn’t always caused by "stress" or "walking too much." Sometimes, it's an infection you never knew you had.
That’s why early testing, hygiene, and antenatal care are not optional they’re lifesaving.

At Meek Home Care, We Say:

“Protecting the mother is protecting the baby.”
We help mothers understand their bodies, spot danger signs early, and connect to the care they need.
Because every pregnancy deserves a fighting chance.
