New case sharing from Dr.Allison Fuchs.
Here’s a neat case for you guys. This kitty was presented on emergency for an abnormally dilated pupil that started acutely this morning. Here are his left and right eyes at the time of my examination. Can you spot the problem? This cat’s left eye is abnormal, with the nasal side of the iris unable to constrict. This can happen in cats because they have two short ciliary nerves in each eye, one for each side of the iris. When one nerve is impacted you get a D-shaped or reverse D-shaped pupil! Wild, right? One of the most common causes in cats is due to infection with feline leukemia virus (FeLV), though there are other causes. This patient tested positive for FeLV at his visit today and will be referred back to his primary care veterinarian for further treatment.

New case sharing from Dr.Allison Fuchs.
This very sad case gave us some good photos to talk about. This is ocular manifestation of systemic disease - the patient presented with a history of weight loss, decreased appetite, lethargy, and increased respiratory rate and effort. There was a palpable mass in the abdomen and the kidneys were large and abnormal. Unfortunately this cat has lymphoma, and this is a very classic appearance of ocular lymphoma. Lymphoma is a disease of the white blood cells and typically affects multiple parts of the body. It is often treatable with chemotherapy. Renal (kidney) lymphoma in cats is often associated with FeLV infection, and sadly is very aggressive.

We are glad to share a story about a big fan for QuikVue. Dr.Hesham Mahmoud Eissa has been using QuikVue eye imaging adaptor for one year and really like it. He was so into it and decided to make a leather sleeve for QuiKVue!! He started the hobby of leather products 3 years ago😂

Glad to share a new vet case captured by adaptor from Dr. Allison Fuchs.
"This sweet little Boston presented emergently last week for squinting and a corneal ulcer. As you can see in the first image, he has an ulcer with some irregular material in it that turned out to be a corneal foreign body with plant material! Once removed, there is an infected ulcer that is getting quite deep. We started aggressive medical therapy with topical antibiotics and serum, as well as oral antibiotics and pain medication. After just 5 days the ulcer is almost completely healed to a scar and the infection is almost cleared. This is great progress and a big relief for this dog and his family!"
