When voices are silenced, the people must roar. It’s time for America to rise from its knees and stand tall again. The line has been crossed. If we don’t stand up now, there may be nothing left to stand for.
An existential approach to life.

ABOUT ME: I am Steve Patterson. Cancer survivor, transplant survivor, veteran, and a digital pioneer working primarily in the digital space since 1997. In that time, I changed careers, locations, and partnerships while remaining independent in my home office. Along the way, I worked in citizen journalism that saw me successful in the days before Twitter was even a thing, all online. I sold what I had created in 2014 three years after being diagnosed with terminal liver disease. I had gone deeply into spirituality and began taking courses on being a counselor. I received a transplant of my cancerous liver (TY doner) in January 2019, regrouped, left the drug and alcohol world since most of those I worked with were managing life crisis in general, and turned Wind and Raven, which had been an online shamanic and spiritual blog since 2014, into my online “practice.” In August 2020 I decided to get rid of nearly all of my possessions, adopt a strict minimalist lifestyle to purge that which was not essential, pack a backpack and camera bag, and explore the oldest forms of spirituality around the world as a transplant survivor. I have always gone against the popular grain. Independence and freedom of choice have been in my blood since my earliest days as I went to 10 schools in 11 grades before dropping out and buying a one-way ticket to the west coast from Chicago. I hiked for a while, but then floundered and joined the US Army infantry where I went on to become a non-commissioned officer. When told to “go back and fit into society, I did not.” Instead, I found the Deadheads. I lived on the road quite a bit from 1990-1993 following the band. When Jerry Garcia died, I moved to Oregon to complete college. It was there, in 1995, that I sank completely into cyberspace, where I remain to this day. rWe all have a story, but it is important that we are the ones writing that story. On the individual level, knowing what they desire in life, and what it is they value in their core, their Full Self, whey they really are, is the place to pick up that pen. The things that take place outside of the individual provide the reality of how one perceives themselves living. Other people’s options of that might matter to us on a personal level, but down deep they do not change that part of us that never changes. Who you really are. That person is not accountable to anybody. If a fish it being itself and therefore is no capable of swimming wrong, then that part in the middle of the individual human is the same. You are you and nobody can change that, but you, can choose to change your behavior and the way that you interact with the outside world so as to ease your transit through. Repetitive patterns of behavior can come from a lot of places and most of them we do not even know exist. They are in our subconscious mind. They are just below the surface, and to be told of them they might sound absurd at first, but on closer inception, there just might be something more. Perhaps it is time to flip the proverbial hood on the car and check the engine to see how your machine is running? Perhaps a little wobbly, a little unaligned with where you want to be, and time to take a load off and take a closer look. I have been a lot of “things”. A soldier, cyberspace pioneer, successful business person, recovery coach, drug and alcohol counselor, shamanic practitioner, and survived a liver transplant and cancer. I don’t brag about that, and I did not leave any of the things I learned from those experiences behind. I have carried them with me, and they have helped me with my four children. I live alone now, and home is increased when I lay my hat. I speak with people around the world on their schedule, so I am available, should you feel the want to reach out. Http://www.windandraven.com
