This is Ninja 🦜
One of the many parrots in Colombia taken from the wild and sold through the illegal wildlife trade.
She was still very young when we rescued her.
Many parrots have their wings cut so they can’t fly — Ninja still can,
but she chose to stay with us.
She usually hangs out in our garden, crashes our meetings,
lands on our shoulders and heads, nibbles our ears, eats from our plates,
and sometimes during phone calls makes so much noise
we’re forced to relocate.
Last week, Ninja didn’t come home.
We’ve searched the neighborhood.
And now we hope
that she found a parrot family,
and is flying freely, just as she was meant to.
