After years of being hired by Big Psycha (the corporate side of the psychedelic world) I’ve noticed how much energy goes into ticking boxes. The retreats are often class room based, head-heavy, and mostly focused on the journey experience.
What’s been glaringly missing is the most vital part, actually being immersed in nature. Discovering the bounty of life beneath our feet and all around us.
When we are just handed a cup of truffles, it has the remanence of the western model of taking a pill without deeper context or guiding us toward the underlying foundational issues.
The root of dis-ease is the feeling of being separate, living as isolated individual selves, disconnected from the intricate web that sustains us all.
I recently had a day out foraging, touching the mycelial threads, walking among mushrooms, listening to the leaves and spending time learning about the forest ecosystem, seasons, and the abundance of edible and medicinal plants.
I found a cluster of maitake growing at the base of an old oak tree (they only appear once a year) and brought it home to make a wonderful meal.
I live in a London flat for the majority of the year and this experience in nature is etching into the fabric of my being and continuing to change me and my work.
The real healing isn’t just in ceremony. It’s in the soil, the cycles, and the co-creational daily relationship with the world around us.
I love my retreats in Costa Rica as we are undeniable one with it all. We currently have one final space remaining after a cancellation this week.
Next year, I’ll be hosting retreats in Portugal, Spain, and the Netherlands that focus on exactly this, rebuilding our connection with the natural world, alongside expert foragers and those who speak the language of the land.
I am excited about my new projects , woking alongside nature and developing relationships based on reciprocity, respect, and truth. 🌾
