Melancholy is not a mistake in the soul, but a natural response to life’s tragic dimensions.

In a Jungian sense, melancholia and even depression can be a call from the unconscious, a descent into soul that opens individuation, rather than a pathology to be erased.

☉ excerpt from ‘Kind of Blue: An Essay on Melancholia & Depression’ (1992), with mythologist and Jungian analyst Jules Cashford.

☉ I went back to some childhood places in nature
that once felt like entire universes.

the little lake not far from home.
the river along a path woven with legend.
the row of trees in the garden of our house.

back then, they were entire universes.
spacious. enchanting. alive.
worlds we lived inside of —
and that meant the world to us.

now, to my surprise,
most places seemed to have lost their magic.
they felt smaller. changed.
almost muted.

what has changed?
the places themselves?
me?
my inner world?
the outer world?

and then —
one place still spoke.

the small lake, held by rocks,
quiet, unassuming.
not spectacular.
yet somehow still alive.

not in the way it once was.
but enough
to pause.
to listen.
to feel something stir.

maybe some places release us
once their work is done.
and others remain,
not to enchant us —
but to meet us
where we are now.

☉ how do you experience your childhood places now?

blessed winter solstice 🌑🕯️
the longest night.

I rest, listening to pagan echoes from Lithuania,
remembering and re-imagining my ancestors’ winters.

☉ to an intense, beautiful week in egypt.
seven people, seven journeys, one shared field.

We moved through the desert, the mountains, the sea.
We listened to our bodies, our dreams, to the elements.
We cooked on fire, slept under the stars, danced ourselves open.

We crossed thresholds, met our shadows, found new inner images.
We learned from the land, from each other, and from the symbols that emerged.

Everyone went into their own process — yet we healed in a shared space of honesty, softness, and trust.

Grateful for this group, this land, and the invisible threads that guided us 🙏🏼

next JOURNEY TO YOURSELF retreat:
8.-15.3.2026 🌞🏜️🌊🐚🐬🔥🌴☉

04/12/2025

kitesurfing ☉
where fire meets water,
where air lifts me and earth feels far away.
playful, peaceful, alive.
held by the wind, carried by the water.
wrapped in shifting colours — blue, violet, turquoise, orange.
textures soft, then rippling,
changing like my inner tide.
up here, everything makes sense.
nothing to think, only to feel.
pure happiness.
just belonging.

~ excerpt from my talk „ELEMENTAL ALCHEMY - the 4 elements as our inner guide“ at .loft festival 🌀

C.G. Jung, wrote: „Life calls not for perfection, but for completeness.“ | „Das Leben verlangt nicht nach Perfektion, sondern nach Vollständigkeit.“

Reflected in the four elements - fire, earth, water, air - ask yourself: Which aspects of myself, mirrored in these elements, do I already accept? Which parts am I still learning to embrace and integrate?

☉
sometimes i wonder.
in times like this –
when i fall short of understanding,
when pain comes over me and i retreat to dark places,
when life adds, on top of all of it,
the unexpected.

what does life want from me?
what story am i caught in?
what is it i am not seeing?

◦
the first step, perhaps, is simply to be with it.
to have patience.
i believe in a force, or call it god, that sends us what we need –
to see, to go through, to stay with,
to grow through and from.
even when it feels heavy in the moment.

◠
much of spirituality speaks of rising higher,
but i find myself descending,
again and again.

downwards.
within.
to integrate.
to understand.
to heal.

𓋪
entering the hidden layers of life,
like persephone.
walking the archetypal path
c.g. jung spoke of,
and recognizing the patterns
dr. conforti helped me see.

❍
are you familiar with the wounded healer?
perhaps this is my task in this world:
to soften through what i have lived,
and to carry what i have learned
into the lives of others.

◡
and here david whyte finds me:

“those who will not slip beneath
the still surface on the well of grief,
turning down through its black water
to the place we cannot breathe,

will never know
the source from which we drink,
the secret water, cold and clear,
nor find in the darkness
glimmering,
the small round coins,
thrown by those who wished for something else.”

These collages I did grew out of a question that feels so relevant — for me, and I believe also for you: how do we ground ourselves in the middle of the city?

They themselves are one of my grounding practices — created with scissors, patience, and presence.

Often when we are not well, overwhelmed, stressed or low, we feel the urge to escape — as if peace could only be found somewhere far away.

But the truth is: grounding is possible right here, at any time and in any place, even — and especially — in the middle of the city.

It’s about those very short, easily achievable, yet deeply effective moments of mindfulness. A reminder that it usually doesn’t take much. We “just” have to remember and make a little space for it.

Maybe, when you look at these collages, they remind you of the small gestures that can bring you back to yourself:

1. open your window. step onto your balcony. feel the air on your face. connect.
2. lay down. on the grass in the park. on your carpet. let go.
3. look far, far away. at the horizon. be. between gravity and lightness.
4. find those green, peaceful refuges. and breathe. and sense.
5. dive in. into the water. into it all. surrender.
6. go for a walk. alone. no matter the weather. your feet on the ground.

Which one speaks to you most today? 💆🏻‍♀️

no tent. no walls. just the desert floor beneath you, the open sky above.

in my retreats, we sleep simply. some choose a spot close to others. some further away.
some seek shelter near the rocks, others openness.

systemic nature therapy sees this choice not as random – but as a reflection of something within us.
our needs. our boundaries. our longings.

to consciously choose a place to sleep in the landscape – whether in the desert, by the sea, or in the forest – is an act of tuning in. of self-connection.

and to sleep outside, with the rhythms of the place, is one of the oldest medicines.

a return.
a remembering.
a resting.

☉ MINI RETREAT: Inner Outer Nature ☉ 12.08. | 16:30–20:30

Join me and a small group of people for a few quiet hours tucked away in a hidden meadow in Grunewald.
Together we’ll tune in to this beautiful place I feel deeply connected to — in silence, in expression, in presence. With the land, with ourselves, and with each other.

It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do in your everyday life. Here, it’s about just being — without needing to perform or explain. It’s an invitation to return to yourself and your natural strength, through the elements around you and the space within you.
