I'm excited to share our recent experience presenting alongside my fellow Malawian student, Bernard, at a cultural showcase at Washington University in St. Louis. We were honored to highlight "Malawi - The Warm Heart of Africa" to the WashU community. As proud Malawians, showcasing our homeland's beauty and cultural richness was a privilege. From the stunning landscapes of Lake Malawi and Mulanje Mountain to the blend of Christianity, Islam, and traditional beliefs, we aimed to provide insight into Malawian life. Discussing our official language, Chichewa, and traditional cuisine and dances, we hoped to foster a deeper appreciation for Malawi's unique spirit. This collaborative experience was about more than just sharing information; it was about celebrating Malawi's warmth and diversity, and we're grateful for the opportunity to have done so together at WashU.

🌍✨ I am currently in Berlin with Professor Heather Cameron and other WashU students undertaking an exciting learning journey. Our focus is on exploring the world of social business, where innovation and social impact intersect. We are learning from leaders using innovative business models to address social challenges. I am particularly enthusiastic about applying what I learn to my future work and programs. The strategies and approaches we are studying have the potential to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of our initiatives, which could ultimately make a greater impact in the communities we serve. Alongside our academic pursuits, we have had the incredible opportunity to immerse ourselves in Berlin's rich culture and history. Every moment has been enriching and inspiring, from insightful discussions to visits to iconic landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate and the Parliament. 🌟📚

Professor Heather Cameron and a group of Brown School students are spending Spring Break in Berlin, where they're learning from German practitioners about innovative approaches to organizational and program design in health and social impact.

➡️ The group spent the morning learning about building more inclusive seniors social services, before heading to tour the Brandenburg Gate (Brandenburger Tor)!

I am thrilled to announce that I have completed the first year of my Master of Public Health degree! It has been an incredible journey filled with valuable knowledge and insights. Throughout this past year, I have had the opportunity to delve into various topics, such as epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation of programs. The knowledge and skills I have gained will undoubtedly be helpful in my future career in public health.
This summer, I will embark on a new adventure as I begin an internship with the Global Research on Inclusion and Disability, led by Jean-Francois Trani, Associate Professor at the Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis. This will be an incredible opportunity for me to learn from experts in the field and gain hands-on experience in public health research.
I am grateful for the support and encouragement of my professors, classmates, and colleagues during this first year. Their guidance and expertise have been instrumental in helping me navigate this program successfully. As I look forward to the second year of my Master of Public Health degree, I am excited to continue expanding my knowledge and skills in this field. I cannot wait to see what the future holds and how I can positively impact the public health community.
