The five elements or the universal energies of Space, Air, Fire, Water and Earth combine into the three fundamental energies, or 'doshas'.

1. Ether and Air constitute 'Vata'
- The energy of movement

2. Fire and Water constitute 'Pitta'
- The principle behind digestion or metabolism, the transformation of matter into energy

3. Water and Earth constitute 'Kapha'
- The energy of human structure and lubrication

According to Ayurveda, each one of us have a unique natural constitution made up of the universal energies created by space-Akash, air-Vayu ,fire-Agni, water-Jal and earth-Prithvi - also called the ‘pancha-maha-bhutas’ in Sanskrit.

'Ayurveda' is a Sanskrit word that means 'the science of life'.

Ayurveda is a holistic system of healing in its truest sense.
According to Ayurveda, health is a perfect state of balance among the body's three fundamental energies, or doshas (vata, pitta and kapha) and an equally vital balance among body, mind, and the soul or consciousness. Our body, mind and consciousness are in constant interaction with people and the environment. Ayurveda takes into consideration these different levels of life and their interconnectedness to create health.
