Nerding out on Vipashyana Material. A deeper taste of Emptiness in all sense doors. A movement from thinking about, to experiencing phenomena, to contacting energetical flow and resting in the spaciousness it all arises and dissolves back into.

Gratitude to Michael Taft for this material in his deconstructing sensory experience course.

Vipassana Meditation
Weekend Silent Retreat
Ericeira near Lisbon, Portugal
March 27 – 29, 2026

An Introduction to Vipassana Meditation

Guided by an experienced teacher and held in a quiet retreat house on a mountaintop in Terrugem, between Sintra and Ericeira.

Vipassana is a meditation practice that cultivates calm, clarity, and insight through direct observation of body and mind.

This weekend is an invitation to step out of daily busyness and into silence, simplicity, and steady practice.

The retreat runs from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon and will be mostly in silence (Saturday morning until Sunday noon). Each day includes sitting and walking meditation, guidance, rest, and time in nature.

The practice follows the Vipassana at Home approach:
• Calming and settling the body–mind
• Investigating sensory experience directly
• Resting in embodied awareness

The emphasis is continuity rather than intensity — creating conditions for clear, sustained practice within a supportive group field.

Suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

The Teacher — Reimar Wen Shen

Reimar Wen Shen is a Vipassana meditation teacher, dancer, and father based at Quinta Ten Chi near Sintra, Portugal.

He has practiced Vipassana for over a decade across the Goenka, Mahasi, and Northern Thai traditions, with more than 30 weeks spent in intensive silent retreat. During COVID he trained for four months under Ajahn Puttar at Wat Sopharam monastery in Thailand, alongside deep immersion in embodied movement practices.

His teaching bridges classical Theravāda Vipassana with contemporary insight approaches and embodied awareness, grounded in ordinary life practice. He is currently part of a teacher training with Michael Taft (Deconstructing Yourself).

In 2021 he founded Vipassana at Home to make deep meditation practice accessible beyond traditional retreat settings.

More research in the embodied side of awareness :)

In November, we will share the essence of these practices in “ Vipassana & Embodied Insight “ 4-day retreat. A meeting if Vipassana meditations and active movement meditation inspired by Buddhist philosophy - working with Impermanence, NonSelf and Suffering through movement while meditating three hours daily Vipassana.

More and more time spend with, in, as Nature.

Ive been very inspired by “otherness”.
Otherness, not as concept but the direct phenomenological experience of otherness.

How can I walk through the flowers, trees, birds. And see them not just as sensory experiences, as objects in my world.

But as others. Another with a thinking feeling BODY.
I look at flower, flower looks back at me.

In this way, my perception starts to shift from me as center, to me as part of a larger happening, a process of nature.

Excited to be in the final stages of finalizing “30 Day Foundations”—a fully self-paced meditation course featuring daily video lessons and 30-minute guided meditations.

This course was born from a real need:
1️⃣ For students waiting to attend a live 10-day retreat.
2️⃣ For those wanting to stay engaged after completing a retreat.
3️⃣ For experienced practitioners who’ve taken my courses and are looking for more.

I’m really enjoying the process of distilling and refining key insights—integrating what I’ve learned, what I’ve mapped out in my own practice, and what has been confirmed through direct experience.

The course draws inspiration from contemporary teachers like Shinzen Young, Culadasa, Daniel Ingram, Michael Taft, Sam Harris, and Joseph Goldstein, while staying rooted in traditional Theravada texts like the Satipatthana Sutta, the Anapanasati Sutta, and Vipassana techniques such as Mahasi Noting and Goenka Body-scanning. Beyond the cushion, it also integrates somatic influences from Wendy Palmer, Mark Walsh, and Janet Adler.

Looking forward to sharing this soon—launching mid-April!

„Dharma art“ refers to creative works that spring from the awakened meditative state, characterized by directness, unselfconsciousness, and nonaggression. Trungpa Rinpoche shows that dharma art provides a vehicle to appreciate the nature of things as they are and express it without any struggle or desire to achieve.

More and more allowing myself to create and improvise from the open nonjudgmental state cultivated through meditation practice. Beauty, mystery and the unimaginable future.

Learning more and more from artists!

We are planning the next retreat for Feb 26 - Mar 2. After the overwhelmingly positive feedback of the retreat we hosted in Portugal last October, we will host another 4-day Vipassana & Embodiment retreat in Germany in the new year.

Here's some pictures of the space! It will take place in a large village house in the countryside near Hamburg. More info and registration coming soon :)

"The Dhamma is to be practiced."

Let's spend 10 days together practicing the Dhamma.

Two hours daily seems like a big commitment. It's 12% of my waking day! How inconvenient! I could be doing so many things during this time.

We are deeply cultivating and developing a certain "way of looking."

It's not about achieving a particular state or experience. It's about rewiring our brain to have access to ways of looking that create confidence, freedom and clarity.

Ways of looking that release craving and aversion. That release suffering and dissatisfaction in our mind.

In these times we are so so so busy! Millions of Thoughts, Actions, Impressions appear everyday. Habit is in the driver's seat of our life.

As we attend mindfully to experience. Everything slows down. Becomes simpler, clearer.

The two hours start freeing up time & space in our lives.

We get out a multiple of what we put in.

If you feel the call, welcome to start this Friday!

One of my favorite books on meditation "The Mind Illuminated" describes mindfulness as a process of four different stages and uses the analogy of a thornbush for difficulties and dissatisfaction in our lives.

1. We are mindful and learn to avoid the branches and thorns.

2. We start to trim the branches and thorns with new information and actions from using mindfulness.

3. We deeply rewire the conditioning of the mind to perceive experience differently but the root remains.

4. Full Awakening removes even deep-rooted conditions that create suffering for us.
