Die MAREVIDA ist zurück!
Langsam näherte sich der Segelschoner samt Skipper und Crew der Millionenstadt Hamburg, Heimathafen.
Sehr viele Eindrücke und damit verbundene Emotionen im Gepäck.
Der Abschied war tränenreich!
„ Wir starten unsere Reise in die Einsamkeit des hohen Nordens in Kappeln am deutschen Ostseefjord Schlei. Nach Passieren des Nord-Ostsee-Kanals geht der Kurs nach Helgoland und von dort aus quer über die Nordsee zu den Inselgruppen Orkney und Shetland Inseln. Den Ausläufern des Golfstroms folgend, segeln wir entlang der norwegischen Küstenlinie nach Nordosten bis zu den Lofoten, um dann von Tromsø aus über die arktische Barentssee und die Bäreninsel Kurs auf Spitzbergen zu nehmen. Je weiter wir uns von unserem Heimathafen Hamburg entfernen, umso einsamer, dünner besiedelt, rauer und zugleich sensibler wird die Natur.
Doch selbst hier, in diesen zum Teil sehr weit abgelegenen Regionen der Welt, sind die Auswirkungen des ungebremsten Tourismus, der Klimaerwärmung und vielfältiger Umweltbelastungen inzwischen eklatant.
Wir segeln mit der SY MAREVIDA, einem für Expeditionsreisen ausgerüsteten und eisverstärkten Segelschoner (Zweimaster). Sofern dies navigatorisch (Eisdrift und Stürme) möglich und verantwortbar sein wird, werden wir die Inselgruppe komplett umrunden. Die Reise Project Arctic Circle 2022 rund Spitzbergen beginnt am 14. Mai 2022, die Rückkehr nach Hamburg ist für den 26. August 2022 geplant.“

MAREVIDA is back!
The schooner, skipper and crew slowly approached the home port of Hamburg, a city of over a million inhabitants. A lot of impressions and associated emotions. The farewell was tearful!
„We start our journey into the solitude of the far north in Kappeln on the German Baltic Sea fjord Schlei. After passing the Kiel Canal, the course goes to Helgoland and from there across the North Sea to the archipelagos of Orkney and Shetland Islands. Following the foothills of the Gulf Stream, we sail northeast along the Norwegian coastline to the Lofoten Islands, before setting course from Tromso via the arctic Barents Sea and Bear Island to Svalbard. The further we move away from our home port of Hamburg, the more lonely, sparsely populated, rougher and at the same time more sensitive nature becomes. But even here, in these sometimes very remote regions of the world, the effects of unbridled tourism, global warming and diverse environmental pollution are now blatant. We sail with the SY MAREVIDA, a sailing schooner (two-masted) equipped and ice-reinforced for expedition travel. If this is possible and justifiable in terms of navigation (ice drift and storms), we will circle the archipelago completely. The Project Arctic Circle 2022 trip around Svalbard begins on May 14, 2022, and is scheduled to return to Hamburg on August 26, 2022.“
