Have you ever asked yourself “Hello Feet! How are you?”

It might sound like a strange question at first, but our feet are often the most overlooked part of our body, even though they carry us through every single day.

And yet, we rarely stop to check in with them.
Would they tell us they’re doing fine? Or that they’ve been working overtime to compensate?

This question becomes even more important when we look at children, whose feet often reveal things they can’t yet put into words.
Children’s feet grow, adapt and respond quickly and sometimes they show us that something in the body’s system isn’t quite right. A foot that always points inward, a habit of walking on tiptoes or an uneven walking pattern, can be signs that something in the body deserves a closer look.

So instead of only looking at your child’s milestones like walking or running, let’s ask:
“Hello, little feet, how are you today?”
You might be surprised by what they’re already telling you. 🩵

Why Is Crawling So Important?🐾

What is crawling?💡
It’s the phase where your baby starts to puts weight on hands and knees. Most people know it prepares them for walking, but there’s so much more going on beneath the surface.

Here’s why crawling matters:
1️⃣ It helps build stability and strength
2️⃣ It supports crossing midline brain connections
3️⃣ It improves mind-body coordination
4️⃣ It provides rich sensory input through touch, movement, and pressure

Crawling isn’t just about getting from A to B. It’s how your baby builds the strength, coordination, and brain connections needed for everything that comes next.

Did your child crawl a lot or skip crawling altogether?
We’d love to hear your story below! 👇🩵

Right after surgery🩵
While your child is still gently sleeping under anesthesia, we already take the next step: If needed, supportive aids like the Mobywalker are put on directly in the OR.

Why do we do this so early?
✅ The foot is still relaxed
✅ No pain or fear interfere
✅ Everything fits precisely from the beginning
✅ Your child can take their first steps on the same day

When your child wakes up, everything is already taken care of. The foot is supported and the aids are in place. This allows your child to wake up without additional procedures and gives you space to simply be there.

How To Stop Toe Walking: Steps To Take For Parents 📌

Toe Walking can be confusing and worrying, but you’re not alone. If your child is consistently walking on their toes, here are the first steps that can help:

Understand the “why” 🧠
Toe Walking doesn’t always mean something is “wrong”, but it is worth paying attention to. Is your child always on their toes, or only at certain times? Are they doing it more when barefoot, overstimulated, or excited? These clues help us understand the why.

Don’t wait and see 👣
Many children don’t simply grow out of habitual Toe Walking without guidance. The longer it continues, the more it influences posture, balance, and body awareness.

🪄 Support playful, everyday movement
Simple activities like balance play, toe stretching, barefoot exploring and sensory games can gently support the body-brain connection. It’s not about forcing a “normal” gait, it’s about offering your child more options for how they can move.

Get an individual assessment💬
A proper check helps clarify if it’s something to wait on, or to work on.

Toe Walking isn’t just about the feet, it’s a way the body communicates.👣

With the right questions, we can start to understand the message behind the movement. Because every answer offers a clue about what your child needs, and what their feet might be trying to tell us.

What do we look for?🔎

- How does the foot respond? Is there any pain or discomfort?
- Are there calf cramps, swelling, or tightness?
If yes, when exactly? and after which activities?

- When did your child start walking independently?📅
- How long has the Toe Walking been present?
- What percentage of the day is spent on tiptoes?
- How far can your child walk before needing a break?
- Are there specific situations when tiptoeing always occurs? Like when barefoot, excited or stressed?
- Has the pattern changed? improved, worsened, or become inconsistent?
- And: Is a heel-to-toe gait possible, even briefly?

Because the more we understand, the better we can support your child.🩵

1️⃣ BALANCE
2️⃣ CONTROL
3️⃣ STABILITY
4️⃣ AWARENESS

These are the hidden building blocks behind every step a child takes. When these blocks are shaky, the body often finds its own way to adapt.
Sometimes, that way is Toe Walking. 👣

Understanding the “why” is how we start rebuilding the foundation, one block at a time.

A Quick Parent’s Guide: What to notice in your child’s walk. 👣

Here’s what you can quietly observe during everyday moments:

Do their heels touch the ground when they walk?
👉 Persistent Toe Walking may indicate developmental, sensory, or neurological patterns.

Is their posture upright and relaxed or stiff and tilted forward?
👉 A forward-leaning posture or tension in the upper body can be a sign that their body is compensating for something.

Do they swing their arms naturally or hold them close to their sides?
👉 A missing or reduced arm swing can be a sign that your child’s walking pattern is still developing or that one side of their body moves differently than the other.

Are their steps smooth or uneven?
👉 Watch for limping, dragging or quick, bouncy steps. These patterns may hint at muscle tightness or coordination issues.

If one or more of these signs seem unusual, it doesn’t always mean something is wrong,
but it might be a sign that the body is working harder than it should.
The earlier we understand these patterns, the better we can support healthy movement.
