What happens inside an Outlast® microcapsule on the fabric surface?

On the surface of Outlast® fabrics, millions of microcapsules filled with natural wax actively manage heat at the exact point where textile meets skin.

When physical activity or external temperature rises, the wax inside the capsules absorbs excess heat and melts from solid to liquid.
Instead of heat accumulating in the garment, it is stored within the fabric.

As the body cools down due to changes in physical activity or ambient temperature, the process reverses:
the wax releases the stored heat and crystallizes back to solid.

This continuous cycle of melting and crystallization takes place directly on the fabric surface, creating a dynamic thermal buffer between wearer and textile.

Why this matters for your products:

• Reduced heat build-up in the garment system
• Delayed sweat formation and lower moisture accumulation
• More stable microclimate next to the skin
• Consistent thermophysiological comfort across use scenarios

From military and protective wear to performance apparel, footwear, bedding and workwear, Outlast® fabrics enable brands to integrate proactive temperature regulation directly into their product design.

A true functional upgrade that sets your products apart from the competition.

A pinhead-sized amount of Aerogel.
Billions of pores.

Inside AERSULATE®, more than 10 billion Aerogel microscopic pores are packed into a volume no larger than a pinhead.
This unique structure traps up to 98% air inside the material – not between fibers, but locked into the pore network itself.

Why this matters:

✔ Outstanding insulation in ultra-thin layers (as thin as 1–2 mm)
✔ Stable performance under pressure – air cannot escape
✔ Reliable insulation even in humid conditions
✔ Lightweight comfort with maximum thermal efficiency

Unlike conventional materials and waddings that lose performance when compressed or wet, AERSULATE® keeps its insulating power exactly where it belongs: inside the material structure.

Less bulk. More performance.

Stop managing sweat.
Start preventing it.

Most performance textiles react after the body starts sweating.

But what if your fabric could act before it even happens?

The new independent Skinos study - based on validated thermophysiological measurement systems developed at Shinshu University and Nagano National College of Technology - proves exactly that.

Garments with Outlast® show:

✔ lower skin temperature
✔ reduced sweat rate
✔ reduced physiological strain
✔ more stable thermal comfort

All by proactively absorbing excess body heat.

👉 For brands, this means:

• measurable product differentiation
• stronger product storytelling
• clear performance proof at POS
• a real reason for consumers to choose your product

Outlast wouldn’t be Outlast if we couldn’t prove the performance of our technologies.

At Outlast, it’s not just about marketing claims - it’s about real, independent studies.
For example, our Footwear Study shows up to 44% less moisture inside the shoe, delivering tangible benefits like improved comfort, reduced sweat, and a better overall wearing experience.

And that’s just one example.
We also have validated studies covering:

- reduced perspiration in bedding applications

- temperature regulation and moisture management in apparel

Less sweat. More focus. Better mission.

In high-stress operational environments, thermal load and moisture management directly impact endurance, cognitive performance, and wearer comfort. Outlast® temperature-regulating materials actively manage heat and moisture to maintain a stable microclimate, reducing heat stress under ballistic vests and protective systems.
Designed for integration into baselayers, linings, and protective wear systems.
