Large human cohort studies (e.g., UK Biobank) have found that higher plasma levels of both omega-3 and omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are linked with lower risk of all-cause mortality — especially omega-3s — and that a lower omega-6/omega-3 ratio is generally more favorable for longevity outcomes.
Higher circulating omega-3 levels have been associated with lower risk of dying from cancer, cardiovascular disease, and overall mortality.
