𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘀 & 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗿𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗼☀️🧴💧

Hot weather, sweating and sun exposure can affect sensitive skin — especially in people with chronic itch.

Some patients feel better in the summer, while others experience worsening of symptoms. There is no “one-size-fits-all” approach.
A few things that may help during hot days:

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹: 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗻𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻🧴 ✨
→ ideally with a high sun protection level

𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁, 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀
→ special gel and lotion formulation help to moisturize dry skin in the summer

𝗪𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲, 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴
→ for example cotton or linen fabrics

𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿-𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻
→ very frequent or hot showers can dry out the skin barrier

Most importantly: listen to your own skin.
Some people tolerate sun or hot temperatures very well — others do not. Finding out what helps you personally is often more important than following strict rules.

Your skin is individual, and your summer routine can be too.

📣 𝐒𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄 – 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 🌍

On 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, World Prurigo Day will take place — a global awareness initiative for people living with chronic prurigo/ prurigo nodularis and chronic itch. The goal of this international event is to raise awareness, advance research, and improve patient care worldwide. 🤍

Chronic prurigo is much more than “just itch.” The disease can severely affect sleep, mental health, social life, and overall quality of life. Despite this, it is still often underestimated or diagnosed too late.

World Prurigo Day brings together dermatologists, researchers, patients, and organizations from many countries around the world. More than 30 countries already participated in last year’s initiative, including Germany, France, Italy, USA, Canada, India, Brazil, Spain, Japan, and many more. 🌎

World Prurigo Day was initiated by Prof. Dr. Dr. Sonja Ständer and Prof. Dr. Matthias Augustin together with the EADV Task Force Pruritus, the International Forum for the Study of Itch (IFSI), and international prurigo organizations.

🧬 Fionas Experience with Dupilumab in Prurigo Nodularis
Many patients are concerned about possible side effects or whether treatment will really help. One patient shared her personal experience with dupilumab and her journey with chronic nodular prurigo.
✨ “The itch is now about 1–2, whereas before it was a solid 8.”
According to her experience:
• Improvement started after around 2 months
• The nodules also improved after approximately 2 months
• No side effects were experienced
• Blood tests remained normal during treatment monitoring
She also described a major improvement in quality of life:
✨ “Much better and able to wear what I want.”
Before treatment, she needed to wear protective clothing in bed because scratching caused bleeding during the night. She explained that while UV phototherapy had helped temporarily in the past, the symptoms usually returned quickly. With dupilumab, the improvement persisted.
📌 This is one individual patient experience and may not reflect every patient’s response to treatment. However, sharing experiences can help reduce fear, increase awareness, and support others living with chronic prurigo.

Long-term real-world data on Dupilumab in Prurigo Nodularis (PN)
Prurigo nodularis is a chronic, highly pruritic skin condition that significantly affects patients’ quality of life. While dupilumab is an approved treatment for moderate-to-severe PN, long-term real-world evidence has been limited—until now.
A large multicenter Italian study (DUPItaPN, n=543) evaluated effectiveness and safety in routine clinical practice over up to 104 weeks. Patients included were previously treatment-refractory and had multiple comorbidities.

✨ Key outcomes:
• Rapid and sustained itch reduction: WI-NRS decreased from 8.7 at baseline to 2.7 (week 24) and 1.7 (week 104)
• Clinically meaningful itch improvement (≥4-point WI-NRS reduction) in ~86% of patients at both 24 and 104 weeks
• Clear or almost clear skin (IGA PN-S 0/1) achieved in 62.8% at week 24 and 81.2% at week 104
• Significant improvement in quality of life: DLQI reduced from 17.4 to 2.6
• Additional benefits seen in sleep disturbance and skin pain scores

📌 Predictors & safety:
Higher baseline itch was associated with better response, while psychiatric comorbidities and prior tricyclic antidepressant use were linked to reduced response. Dupilumab showed a favorable safety profile, with only 2.9% discontinuation due to adverse events and no signals for malignancy progression or viral reactivation.

📊 Take-home message:
Dupilumab demonstrates durable efficacy and good tolerability over 2 years in real-world settings, reinforcing its role as a long-term treatment option for patients with moderate-to-severe PN—including elderly and comorbid populations.

Chronic itch without a clear cause can be frustrating — and hard to treat.

🔍 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄:
• Usually caused by a mix of factors
• Immune system + nerves both play a role
• More common with aging
