💧 The Power of Water at DEST 2025

Our symposium “The Power of Water” at the Annual Meeting of the Digestive Endoscopy Society of Taiwan (DEST 2025) brought together an interactive audience eager to explore how underwater techniques are transforming clinical practice.

With insightful talks from our expert speakers, participants gained valuable perspectives on maintaining a “bubble-free” clear view during underwater procedures, enhancing visualization and supporting efficient, precise resections.

The session also showcased how the HYBRIDknife® flex and EIP 2, powered by the VIO® 3 platform, work seamlessly together to deliver injection, cutting, and coagulation in one step, simplifying workflow and improving procedural confidence.

What defines a successful ESD: skill, understanding, or innovation? At the AEM Masterclass in Malta, we explored this question alongside renowned experts in endoscopy and the inventor of ESD himself.

Last week, the International Advanced Endoscopy Masterclass (AEM) was hosted for the very first time in Malta. At the hands-on stations, participants practiced ESD techniques using our HYBRIDknife® flex I-type and T-type.

Experts in the field, including Prof. Roberta Maselli (Italy), Mr. Amyn Haji (UK), and Dr. Stefano Kayali (Italy) were presenting their tips and tricks to improve performance as Prof. Hironori Yamamoto, the inventor of ESD, gave an insightful lecture of diathermy, going into a deeper understanding of the principles of electrosurgery.

A special thanks to Edward John Despott UOM, Alberto Murino, and Nikos Lazaridis for curating such a masterfully executed event and for creating an inspiring atmosphere for learning.

Endoscopy on Air 2025 brought the international endoscopy community again together for a day of clinical exchange and innovation and we have been again a part of it!

In various live cases, medical experts presented how our technologies are used in clinical practice:

🔹Kicking-off this year’s global event with live-cases broadcasted from Shanghai, with a gastric cardia SET performed by Prof. Zhou (China) with HybridKnife® T-Type and by Dr. Cai (China), showing an esophageal ESD with our HybridKnife® I-Type

🔹Four cases with our newest innovation, FiAPC® plus, for the treatment of gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE) utilized live by Prof. Pradeep Bhandari (UK) and Dr. May together with Dr. Mosko (Canada) and in two more video-cases performed by Prof. Alessandro Repici (Italy) and Prof. Thomas Rösch (Germany).
As Prof. Bhandari noted, the device offers a “very precise beam”, “minimal stickiness due to the improved tip design”, and “controlled ablation.”

🔹HYBRIDKnife® flex I-Type was utilized in an uPOEM by PD Dr. med. Torsten Beyna (Germany) and uESD by Prof. Roberta Maselli (Italy) during a re**al and gastric ESD, used in both conventional and saline-immersed settings performed by Prof. Repici and Prof. Bhandari, showing the benefit of HYBRIDknife® flex in an underwater environment.

🔹Prof. Daniel von Renteln (Canada) shared his experience and perspectives of the role of double ablation (margin and base post EMR ablation) with HybridAPC in reducing recurrence as part of advanced endoscopic resection strategies, during “The global debate continues”
