The December countdown is moving quickly. We are just five nights of sleep away from the Winter Meditation Retreat. As winter settles in—with cold air, quiet days, and perhaps even snow—we turn inward ❄️🕯️

We step back from daily life, from being carried along by it, and make space to simply be. This is a time to be ourselves, with ourselves. To meet thoughts, emotions, and sensations as they arise, resting as the consciousness that we are: vast, timeless, and alive in this moment. Together we meditate, move, share, connect, listen, speak—and simply are 🌿

How do you spend New Year’s Eve at the Young Sita Winter Meditation Retreat? ✨

During the afternoon we begin preparing and decorating the dining room and dance space together. Around seven o’clock we sit down for a festive three-course banquet, lovingly prepared by our kitchen chefs at their very best. Between courses there is space to share anything you wish — music, poetry, dance, a performance, or any talent or skill you feel moved to offer. Everything is welcome and appreciated 🎶.

After dinner we clean the dining room and kitchen together. With music, singing, and shared effort, this becomes a joyful and light moment — easy as 1-2-3. If the weather allows, we then gather around a campfire.

At ten to twelve we come together in the meditation hall for a midnight meditation, lasting until ten past twelve. We then wish each other a happy New Year and toast with a non-alcoholic cocktail 🥂. In the basement of the meditation center there is space to dance and move freely until around two o’clock. Then it is time for bed.

We are deeply touched by the (unexpected, late but very welcome) donations we’ve received 😇 Not because of the money itself, but because they come from a heartfelt wish: that someone with limited financial means may experience the same Young Sita retreat that once touched them.

Since 2008, we have worked year after year to make these retreats possible, keeping them both affordable and with good experience for our participants. We know young people often have limited resources, so we keep prices at the absolute minimum. No one in the organisation makes a profit; costs simply cover accommodation, food, organisation and equipment. Participants also help with small daily tasks to keep costs low.

Even so, donations continue to arrive—mostly from former participants. A huge thank you to all past and present donors. You truly rock 💝🤩

Hey! Neo! How was your meditation retreat experience with Young Sita?

“I have been looking forward to this year’s retreat ever since I got home from last year’s retreat. Last year was the first real retreat I went on. I had some experience meditating, but definitely not a lot; however, this did not matter very much as there were multiple people to guide me. I enjoyed the way the week was building up to New Year’s, I was getting into a deeper meditation flow every day. Alongside the fun of doing nothing, I made friends, walked through the beautiful forest, and ate delicious food. I felt at peace. I highly recommend the Young Sita Retreat. Hope to see you there! :)”

“I was doubting before the retreat whether something like this would be something for me or not. I had no idea what to expect. As soon as I arrive I feel a warm welcome. The program is suited for beginners, like me, and I quickly feel at home (and peace!). The connection I make and the community feeling are awesome and I have never experienced anything like it. It makes such a good impression on me that I have been to 5 other retreats afterwards. Now I am looking forward to going again!”
