Preventive check-ups: on the rise, but still too low
In 2023, 57% of Europeans took part in at least some preventive check-ups. Two years later, in 2025, the figure is already 66%. An encouraging trend. At the same time, the number of people who avoid screening altogether is falling - from 42% to just 34%.
Women over 55 in particular are setting a good example: a full 73% use check-ups - compared to 58% of men. And there is also a pattern when it comes to age: the older, the more responsible. While 59% of 18-34-year-olds go for a check-up, the figure is 72% for the over-55s.
But why do one in three people still go without regular check-ups?
The most common reason: “I feel healthy - so I don't need a check-up.” (28%)
Closely followed by: “I don't know which check-ups would be useful for me.” (25 %)
What we learn from this: It is not enough to feel healthy. We need information, education - and the courage to take preventive action. Because what we prevent today can save our lives tomorrow.
