Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche lived the life of a modern-day Mahasiddha, a true Ta***ic yogi whose example continues to inspire.

From a young age, Geshe-la devoted himself wholeheartedly to Dharma. He trained extensively in the great monastic universities of Tibet, later receiving the title Geshe, meaning “spiritual friend”. Guided by his Spiritual Guide, Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, he then spent an extraordinary 18 years in solitary meditation retreat in the Himalayas and the mountains of northern India, followed by further retreat in the West.

Geshe-la’s extraordinary life was not lived for his own benefit alone. Through his Modern Buddhist presentation, he showed how people living ordinary lives can gain profound realizations by combining daily meditation, meaningful daily practice, and occasional retreat.

This is the spirit behind our Winter Mahamudra Retreat, beginning this Friday at our centre in Copenhagen. It is a precious opportunity to step back from daily busyness, rest the mind in clarity and space, and draw closer to the profound teachings Geshe-la shared for our time.

If you’ve been longing for depth and a genuine experience of your mind’s potential, this retreat offers the perfect conditions.

NEW YEAR WITH TARA
31 December – 1 January | Sessions in English

Celebrate the transition into the New Year in a calm, joyful, and deeply meaningful way.

In the heart of the city, we spend New Year with Arya Tara, the swift and compassionate female Buddha. Through six sessions of Tara chanting, meditation, and a festive New Year’s dinner, we create powerful conditions to let go of the old year with peace and step into the new with confidence and clarity.

All over the world, Kadampa centres gather on New Year’s Eve to recite Liberation from Sorrow – the 21 Praises to Tara, dedicating wishes for world peace and happiness for all beings. By connecting with Tara’s fearless wisdom and compassionate action, we remove obstacles for the coming year and strengthen our courage to live with wisdom and compassion.

A beautiful and uplifting way to begin the New Year.
