“Your assignment this week is to bake cupcakes”
Those words were said to me by the very first Life Coach I worked with over 13 years ago.
By day, she was an Executive Coach who trained very senior leaders in private and public sectors. On weekends, she coached executives like myself who opted to invest in ourselves from our own pockets.
Did I know then that years later I’d follow her footsteps? Nope.
Did that 31-year-old version of me from those years ago know that one day in the future I’d be living in Denmark, still baking cupcakes as a creative outlet, feeling so more connected with myself, confident, being in alignment with my life purpose, AND helping others do the same? No, she didn’t.
But what that version of me knew was that she needed support to get out of the rut she was in and find a way forward, and she knew that she couldn’t do it alone. She also knew that her friends and family couldn’t help her through it - because they couldn’t understand what she felt. They told her that she should be grateful and happy because she had all the material success that society deemed as “success”. She could afford a Mercedes Benz, designer goods, luxury vacations and support her family, including her mother. What more?
When she met that Life Coach, she FELT the connection, and knew that it was something she had to try. Afterall, all the other methods she had tried no longer worked.
So why not get support from someone who’s experienced, and trained to support other people to move through their challenges in life and at work?
And so, here I am.
I moved through the challenges that were stopping me from moving forward in my life, thanks to my Life Coach.
And that’s also the motivation that eventually led me to try a coach training programme and see if I had what it takes to become one.
I know what it’s like to feel stuck in one’s own life - especially in a life and career that I had worked for so hard and so long to get to, only to learn that it didn’t feel like what I thought I would feel. I also know what it feels like to break free from that feeling of stuckness and despair - and live life being in the flow again.
Do these feelings relate?
The stuckness. The sense of frustration.
The “why-am-I-successful-on-paper-but-I-don’t-feel-it” feeling.
The “what’s the point of all this? And what’s next for me?” questions that used to plague me.
Investing in a Life Coach all those years ago was the beginning of a whole new way of being for me, and I’ve never looked back.
Do you want to move from the feeling of frustration and stuckness to one of clarity and flow? If so, maybe we could work together to get you there.
I don’t have the answers for you, but I can provide objective perspectives in a non-judgemental way. And I will listen to all that you want to share. I will also work with you to co-create, design and hold you accountable to take actions o that you can move forward towards your new chapter.
