ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः Om Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ

We begin with ॐ (Om / Aum) the absolute presence, pure consciousness, the state beyond disturbance.

Then we chant Shanti three times because, according to the Vedantic understanding, human beings experience three kinds of disturbances (duḥkha / suffering):

- आध्यात्मिकम् (Ādhyātmikam)
Disturbances arising from oneself: emotional suffering, mental agitation, inner conflict, physical pain.
- आधिभौतिकम् (Ādhibhautikam)
Disturbances arising from the external world: other people, beings, situations, circumstances.
- आधिदैविकम् (Ādhidaivikam)
Disturbances arising from natural or cosmic forces: calamities, unseen forces, climate, destiny, acts beyond human control.

That is why we chant:

ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः

invoking peace within ourselves, peace from the world around us, and peace from the forces beyond our control.

Goals for today (and tomorrow’s): be here now.

Watching the weather outside and inside.

Meeting the inner weather. Sitting with it.

Letting what wants to be expressed and offered reveal itself.

In Yoga Sūtra 2.4, Patañjali defines Avidyā as the root condition of mis-seeing reality.

It is not a lack of knowledge, but a fundamental distortion of perception. It’s when confusing the changing with the stable, awareness with mental content, and experience with a fixed self.

From this condition arise the kleśas (Yoga Sūtra 2.3).
They are not separate causes, but expressions of Avidyā in lived experience:

Avidyā — mis-seeing of reality
Asmitā — ego-sense
Rāga — attachment
Dveṣa — aversion
Abhiniveśa — instinctive clinging to life

Together, they form a single system of mis-seeing in motion. Yoga is not the suppression of these movements, but the clear recognition of their root condition.

When Avidyā is seen directly as mis-seeing, the kleśas no longer function as binding forces.

What remains is experience without distortion. No identification, no appropriation, no sense of lack.

This is the movement toward clarity and freedom.

Re-Arriving 🪷

A sense of “not being enough” can arise, a feeling of not being “there yet.” This comes from avidyā — a lack of clear seeing, or misperceiving what we are. What is constantly changing (thoughts, emotions, roles) is taken to be personal, while what is always present is overlooked.

From this mis-seeing, other confusions follow, like identifying with what I am not. Because of this, separation can feel real. But this sense of separation is not actual. It is created through misunderstanding.

Even this misunderstanding, however, is part of the process. What seems like a journey of becoming is really a gradual recognition of what has always been here. Nothing essential was ever missing.

The greatest teachers return you home to your true nature. Blessed to have as my teacher and .and.all.is.coming as community. 🦢

AWE. And no excuses.

1,5 years ago I felt a deep, visceral pull to sit in the presence of an embodied teacher. Shortly after, I found myself in AWE after my first asana sadhana with you Ji, during the 200h YTT in Italy.

Something fundamental shifted within. It anchored me deeper into Y O G A. It reaffirmed my relationship to Dharma, to truth, to the yogic path, and to cultivating inner richness through practice as an offering.

Step by step, the path keeps unfolding. And here I am, 500h .and.all.is.coming graduate, allowing new layers of knowledge to land and integrate.

It matters deeply to walk with a teacher who keeps you aligned with truth. In this relatively short time of practicing with you, what has touched me most is your clarity. The way you transmit embodied wisdom so precisely, while remaining deeply humble and human. And I love you for reminding us the baseline: NO EXCUSES when it comes to living the yamas & niyamas.

To me, you are a guru in the way you see the light in everyone, and how you meet darkness with love, kindness, and presence.

Thank you for walking ahead and illuminating the path for all.

With love and gratitude,
Hana
