The messy middle is that stage where you’ve done a lot of the physical healing: eating well, letting go of restrictive behaviours, becoming more flexible.

And now… 🥁 the actual body image healing can begin!

The inner work can look like:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✅ Regulating your emotions healthily
✅ Exploring your needs, interests, and desires
✅ Building self-trust
✅ Expanding your sense of identity beyond your body and physical appearance
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s not about loving your body 100% of the time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, it’s about learning how to stay with yourself through the hard moments, build yourself up when you feel down, and take steps toward feeling at ease in your body and your life.

That’s what confidence really is.

Perfectionism is a coping mechanism that works in some ways, and can be devastating in other ways. For example, perfectionism may have helped you feel worthy, accepted, accomplished, powerful and admired, but it doesn’t actually guarantee that you’ll never face rejection, criticism, failure mistakes or adversity. It can leave you feeling burnt out and useless. It can prevent you from showing up as your authentic self and feeling loved for who you truly are.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Perfectionism and disordered eating go hand in hand. Many people find that challenging their perfectionism helps them become more flexible with their food and exercise routines.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Healing from perfectionism requires a fundamental shift in the way you view food, your body, yourself, others, and the world. Start by letting the little things be “good enough.” Because you are good enough. And perfect doesn’t really exist.

EXPLORE GOALS HERE 👇🏼
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⏳Replacing the time, mental energy, and space currently spent on food and body-related behaviours (e.g., calorie counting, checking labels, planning food and exercise, body checking) with time spent living your values: learning a new language, trying new restaurants, making plans with friends and family, traveling, being spontaneous.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🌮Sharing more meals with people in your community, while focusing on connection and memories instead of the type or amount of food.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏊 Experimenting with different types of joyful movement (e.g., dancing, swimming, rock climbing) rather than sticking to movement that feels obligatory or controlling.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👗Experimenting with different styles of clothing—dressing for comfort, self-expression, or just simply something different than the usual.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🛝Scheduling time for play — doing activities purely for fun, curiosity, or pleasure, not to achieve, optimize, or “work on” yourself.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
These goals come straight from women inside The CommunEATy, my small group-coaching membership focused on food freedom, self-acceptance, and unconditional self-worth.

The opposite of obsession is connection. You don’t need a “new year, new me” kind of start to 2026. You just need to get more comfy being your authentic self.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In episode 31 on Wake Up with Natalie Rose, I share why disconnection is at the root of every meltdown about body changes, and how connecting with yourself and others cultivates lasting self-worth.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I also offer actionable guided journal prompts to help you practice self-honesty, tune into your body and emotions, and take tangible steps toward more peace in your body and presence in your relationships and life.

This time of year can be tough AND it can also come with a lot of joy, necessary downtime, and opportunities for connection. Healing means making space for both pleasant and unpleasant feelings, and focusing on what matters most to you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The most authentic part of you knows that you are so much more than what you eat or weigh. You can trust that the temporary discomfort of leaving your normal routine doesn’t threaten your health, your body, your goodness or your worth.

In this Q&A-style episode, I answer the most common vacation and holiday questions my IG community submitted after my first trip traveling with a five-month-old.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I share how I navigate eating more on vacation (or during the holiday season🎄) without guilt, being in a swimsuit postpartum, noticing bloating and water retention without letting it hijack my mood, letting go of food rules and routines, making food choices effortlessly, and taking breaks from exercise without panic.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Drawing from my own recent experience, I explain why discomfort on vacation doesn’t mean you’ve done something wrong, and how healing your relationship with food and your body is less about avoiding triggers and more about staying regulated, present, and self-compassionate when they arise. This episode is for anyone who wants to enjoy travel, holidays, and time away without food obsession, body shame, or the urge to “get back on track” afterward.
