A little known fact about myself... I have been destroying pancakes for about 25 years now.

Although I've made a handful of proper ones over the years, I probably would win an award for "consistently making the most s**t pancakes".

Disney has your girl feeling seen! 🇩🇴

Jericho in his thick Australian accent yells from across the hall "look mum our flag!". It turns out that the little girl in the show he's obsessed with is a Dominican-American who goes to witch school.

I didn't get to see stuff like this growing up. The main Latinos represented were usually Mexican, almost never Caribbean especially afro-latino. Although I didn't get to see empowered little Dominican girls in media, I'm happy that now my son gets to see what that looks like.

If you know of other programs that represent Dominican children especially in a magic space please share!

When people ask me about the process of the self- development journey, I let them know that your relationship to time will have a huge bearing in directing that journey.

Ask yourself:

What is my concept of time?

What time measurement system am I operating in?

How does that system influence my ability to function?

What is my relationship to the concept of time?

How is my circadian system responding?

etc

REFLECTIONS:

Answers to these questions will help direct you to build a lifestyle frame that fits you.

Today I'm checking out this book for my little one. Introducing children from early on how to interpret and connect with a certain time structure positions them to build a life they want to experience.

I recently started an evening ritual with my 7 year-old where we pick one mindfulness card and reflect on our response.

Tonight he selected this card.

He said that he loves to leave offerings.

This practice (sharing offerings) has many benefits like reinforcing our connection with our non-human kin.

Christianity taught me this was diabolical, my son however, who is the most beautiful soul I know so full of love and compassion, shows me through his example that if anything, leaving offerings to waters, the trees, the stones ... we are made whole!

My son may be no art child prodigy 😆 but he IS one when it comes to emotional intelligence and spiritual development, which for me is more important than artistic genius.

You might have noticed jaguar in my feed lately, and that's the medicine that's showing up, so here's a little more!
..

As an indigenous child it's important for me to pass on to my baby the animism wisdom that was passed on to me. Within my scope of knowledge I transmit ancestral codes and share that of other cultures as well, and he has the freedom to do what he wills with that information.

Jaguar is my primary totem animal, and although I have a deep bond with this kin I have not, as of yet, imparted much knowledge to my son. I purposefully stay away from focusing on apex kin during the early years.

But for some time, in different contexts, he continues to display a connection to jaguar and wolf (same as his maternal uncles). He's been randomly howling for most his little life 😆.

He's very connected to animals in general, but it's interesting that, thus far, he feels a sense of belonging with this magnificent kin.
