Admittedly it’s been very hard for me to teach my son Spanish living out here, but this is one practice he does observe, one that I wish the whole world would practice. The way we greet our elders is to request the elder bless us.

We don’t say “hello”, we say “bless me [elder’s title].

Very few Hispanic cultures still do this today. Does your culture have a similar practice?

Outside of my holistic healing and wellbeing practice, I’m also the Health Promotions Officer and Complementary Medicine Practitioner at my local Women’s Health Centre. 🏥

This week we’re celebrating Women’s Health Week on Dharawal Country! 🪃

Here’s a little slideshow …

I’m pictured with one of my favourite Aunties — a proud Torres Strait Islander woman — who always brings the medicine of joy, dance, humour, connection, and so much more. 🌬

I also took a positive step forward by scheduling my first-ever mammogram! 💗 Ladies, if you’re over 40, I encourage you to look into breast screening support.

And although not a woman 🤣, I’m including a man too — because men’s influence in our lives impacts holistic health management and outcomes, for better or for worse. When you show up more fully, it creates space for us to do the same.
Sure, sometimes y’all are a pain in the ass 😅, but you also help us feel more complete. You carry great medicine, my brothers — let it soar! If there’s no health week or men’s health centre in your community, I encourage you to advocate for one, especially with the rise of diseases like testicular cancer.

I hope you enjoy the pictures, and where relevant, feel inspired to take that next step for your health.
