THREE MOST IMPORTANT HEALTHY FOOD FUNDAMENTALS!
More than 15 years in food business, being a chef and entrepreneur, I saw how food Industries and everyday food consumption amongst consumers is changing.
During last 5 years I´ve been witnessing people’s awareness growth and habits changing in healthy thinking.
Not only in food choices but the deeper thought of health in general.
Every new thing to approach is like building a house not knowing what it will look like in the end. Before you can custom it with interior design you need a strong fundamental that’s holds whatever you are going to build on it.
You probably know that healthy lifestyle is not based on only one aspect to your life. If we approach healthy food you need to start somewhere and input that is helping you to be happier in your life. But to be clear then healthy lifestyle is much wider topic than just eating healthy. It is no use if you give your body great fuel without manifesting it so, lets go to the topic here!
So, I´ll give you 3 basic fundamentals that healthy food should be built on. These are the key elements that you can look back anytime and think to yourself if they reflect your decision making.
1. Balance
I think that this is the most important element of all. Keeping balance is much harder than to drop a ball and/or to incline toward extreme options. Extreme options most of the times end up having extreme outcome that kick out of balance other positions. Finding balance means being aware of your needs, to listen to your body but not when it is extremely hungry already.
2. Nutrition
What is what. What food is made of? If you know how and from what food products are made of, then you know better how to categorize them. Basic categories are Carbs, Fat, Protein, Fiber, Calories. For instance, if you know that mayo is made from 80% of oil then you understand that this is pure fat. Who wants to go further then 100 grams of mayo is 80 grams pure fat. So you understand major components the food is made from.
I´ve learned this myself when I started to do most of my meals at home from scratch, it has taken me more than 10 years. Most of the food we consumed we made ourselves from scratch. That helped us to understand what is what.
3. Not to overthink
This is the thing that supports your decision making. Worrying about everything creates disturbance in the balance of healthy eating. Don´t be over critical about your decisions and just be chill. If you understand nutrition and trying to hold it all in balance then it is OK. It doesn´t be perfect. Being happier and eating more freely gives much more benefits to your life than too harsh on yourself. Take life more easily.
